Eaton’s Electrical Sector, Critical Power & Digital Infrastructure (CDPI) division is currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Raleigh, NC location. This position is hybrid/remote as long as you live within 50 miles of our location. Position Overview: The Senior Software Engineer serves as a technical interface and resource for the development and implementation of hardware and software designs for Eaton and/or other branded products that are critical to the success of Eaton and its partners. This expertise is used to support specific customer applications, sales, and engineering functions. Additionally, this position serves as an engineering resource to support related factory and field service issues. In this function you will: Develops software for power distribution, HMI, and power monitoring software programs Knowledge of PQ-related equipment (UPS, PDU, RPP, flywheels, batteries, alternative energy, switchgear components, etc). Produces HMI controls and microprocessors software for Eaton Power Quality switchboard applications for Multi-Tenant, Enterprise, and Hyperscale Data Centers. Develops conceptual and end product Power Quality designs with input from customers and end-users; develops design concepts, engineering, and hardware quotations for these designs. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain customer relationships and resolve complaints. Knowledge of power distribution, control products, as well as power systems engineering practices and procedures, employee relations, and quality programs. Follow customer's specifications and internal specifications for project implementation Program Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), HMIs, and Microprocessors for Automatic Transfer Controls between two sources, Paralleling Switchgear Applications, and System Bypass Controls. Provide sketches, mark-ups, and directions to Electrical Designers to develop project drawings. Review and approve project drawings. Knowledge of power electronics and inverter theory. Write operating sequences and instruction manuals. Assist with factory testing and field start-ups as required. HMI/SCADA Experience with the following manufacturers: Beijer Electronics, Eaton Visual Designer, Capable of programming in SQL, Visual Basic, C, C++, C#, or equivalent. When we embrace the different ideas, perspectives, and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we — as individuals and as a company — are stronger Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution. 2 years design experience in electrical and/or software engineering role Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship. Relocation is not offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Raleigh, NC will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation. Preferred qualifications: Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution. 3 years design experience of power systems or data centers Knowledge of engineering database systems (Enovia) Good understanding of the performance and capabilities of Eaton’s large UPS and power distribution products Position Criteria: Ability to understand the competitive power quality environment.
