The role

This role involves guiding the activities of several of our development teams for industry-leading content management software. The ideal candidate will communicate well, have a natural affinity for technology, and be motivated to build a well-engineered product that balances wider business requirements. This is a senior Product Owner role, interfacing with other Product Owners, Product Managers, Cross-Functional Team members, and internal and external customers at every level. Relationship building and the ability to motivate teams are critical.

Responsibilities

To enable your team to create sustainable value:

• Synthesize input from different sources and identify priorities
• Actively manage the backlog and select priority features for upcoming development cycles
• Brief development and UX teams on shortlisted features, including key constraints and definitions of done
• Work with teams to refine estimates and scope
• Present team plans
• Through the development cycle, continue to clarify the scope and involve stakeholders as necessary
• Demonstrate the finished features at the end of the development cycle

To effectively use feedback from customers and internal stakeholders:

• At events, present roadmaps and lead discussions
• Co-ordinate internal and external workgroups and other research activities

To maintain a culture of innovation and a strong shared architecture:

• Set up and actively participate in planning discussions
• Come up with new proposals and refine them with product managers and architects
• Contribute to proofs of concept and other ways to test ideas

Skills and experience

Must have

• Affinity with technology and software engineering – you don’t need to be a proficient software engineer but you must have a sense of how complex software systems work: the data journey and dependencies that drive customer-facing features
• Experience in working in Agile development, including refining processes
• Excellent prioritization capabilities
• Very good communication skills (in English), including presentations
• Willingness to negotiate with other stakeholders, including customers, to achieve optimal results
• Quick learning of new domains, both technical and market-focused
• A sense of interaction design, that software is not just a collection of features but needs to follow a consistent model
• Curiosity – asking questions, spotting patterns and outliers, seeking to close gaps in your own or others' understanding
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the tech field, preferably in B2B software

Nice to have

• Knowledge of sales process and support and maintenance models
• Experience with digital publishing, knowledge management, or intranet
• Knowledge of software testing
