Job Description

CONSULTANT

Specific Role and Context

Strategic Advisory

e.g. the development of business cases or strategic approaches (Blueprints, Roadmaps, Implementation Plans, Change Plans) for organisations to adopt digital ways of working and/or new technology.

Technical Advisory

•            Business Analyst Support:  e.g. Understanding business and use requirements, facilitating requirement identification processes, designing and improving processes and organisational change planning and support.

•            Digital Engineering/BIM advisory services: e.g. maturity assessments, information requirements development, BIM process design, Common Data Environment (CDE) requirements development.

•            Training and communication activities.

 Technology Advisory

e.g. understand current state and developing high level target state architecture, develop functional requirements and implementation roadmaps.

Line Management reporting to Deliver Director (Will Hackney)

Assignment Management reporting to Assignment Manager

 

 

Job Requirements (Responsibilities and Accountabilities)

Stakeholder Relationship Management

•            Communicate with stakeholders clearly and regularly, clarifying mutual needs and commitments through consultation and consideration of impacts while focusing on user needs.

•            Facilitate small client meeting and support larger client workshops.

Business analysis

•            Support the establishment of a clear, agreed record of the current ‘as-is’ position for clients, from a cross-section of Client stakeholders, to identify opportunities and challenges and the root causes of those challenges using the Cohesive Discovery process.

•            Identify and analyse options to enable feasibility and operational impact to be understood.

•            Support the development of solutions that align with the vision, mission, objectives and strategy of the business and user needs.

Business Process Improvement

•            Identify and explore opportunities for service and business optimisation and recommend priorities for implementation to ensure that the organisation derives maximum value.

•            Understand and leverage the use of data to improve business operations and profitability

Use Case Development

•            Understand users and identify who they are and what their needs are, based on evidence

•            Develop Use Cases based on existing templates which represent the real-world situations (organisational processes, roles, and data sources) to aid communication and understanding and propose design approaches or services to meet these needs.

Requirements definition and management

•            Support the specification of requirements for technology solutions from both a business and user perspective to enable agreed changes to be implemented effectively.

Business Benefits and Costs

•            Apply benefit and cost estimation methodology to specific client metrics and circumstances.

Digital Engineering Requirements

•            Apply templates and defined approaches to develop Organisational, Asset and Exchange Information Requirements and related processes.

Business Development

•            Support Business Development activity, assisting with proposal development, marketing content and event organisation.

 

Job Skills & Knowledge (Essential)

•            Knowledge of digital engineering approaches including BS1192, PAS 1192 and ISO19650

•            Proven business analysis and business process improvement skills

•            Knowledge of digital technology and how it can add value and deliver efficiencies to existing processes and practices

•            Capable of working in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment, either alone or as part of a team

•            Knowledge of the construction industry and the Built Environment

•            Able to think ‘Big Picture’ and work with detail

•            Builds relationships quickly

•            Extremely organised with strong time-management skills

•            Good report writing and communication skills

•            Able to maintain high productivity when out of the office environment

•            Strong work ethic and highly versatile

 

Job Skills & Knowledge (Desirable)

•            Knowledge of smart cities and the IOT and sustainable communities ISO37106

 

Qualifications

Essential

Degree and / or Higher National qualifications related to business information systems, business management, computing and systems development, computer science or in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience

Desirable

Professional membership (or working towards) in a related field of experience
