Job Description

Intel desires entry into market segments served by high performance discrete graphics. Participation in market segments served by discrete graphics requires the delivery of reference platforms to downstream customers with sufficient confidence to ramp the design or a very close derivative into high volume production quickly. Intel is building this capability and now seeks to create a discrete graphics Platform System Engineering team.  Are you interested?  Then XPE has an opportunity for you.  In XPE, we are responsible for delivering leading GPU solutions to integrated and discrete graphics in data center and will continue to deliver a pipeline of innovation supporting the complete Intel platform, including CPU, memory, and accelerators. We are looking for a Senior Board Design engineer to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

The XPE Senior Board Design Engineer, shall drive the technical development of new discrete graphics products (cards, modules, systems) based on Intel's discrete graphics and compute chips. In this role you shall execute the design of high-performance graphics cards, create product reference designs, and/or develop mobile graphics systems. You shall drive all aspects of the board designs, including planning, component selection, schematic design and layout review. You shall interact with all competencies of the system engineering team (mechanical, thermal, PCB layout, power design, etc.), the program management team, the SoC design team, board validation and other associated teams that are integral to the launch products that meet both technical and schedule requirements. You will work with key external partners for developing and supporting their designs and should be proficient at documenting your work and communicating with high-level management.

This is a key position within the Intel XPE development organization. The successful candidate shall have demonstrated a successful track record of delivering high quality designs on time, working and influencing industry leaders and engaging with key partners. The market segments served by discrete graphics are fast moving the successful candidate shall demonstrate a high level of comfort with change and change management.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Drive the technical development of new discrete graphics products (cards, modules, systems) based on Intel's discrete graphics and compute chips
  • Execute the design of high-performance graphics cards
  • Create product reference designs, and/or develop mobile graphics systems
  • Drive all aspects of the board designs, including planning, component selection, schematic design and layout review
  • Collaborate with all competencies of the system engineering team (mechanical, thermal, PCB layout, power design, etc.), the program management team, the SoC design team, board validation and other associated teams to meet both technical and schedule requirements
  • Work with key external partners for developing and supporting their designs


Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.  Relevant experience can be obtained through schoolwork, classes and project work, internships, military training, and/or work experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with 5+ years of experience, or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with 3+ years of experience.

Preferred skills and experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience delivering high performance board design products (discrete graphics add-in cards or discrete graphics systems/racks)
  • Experience in modern platform level simulation and modelling, functional correctness and power and signal integrity flows with HW/SW embedded micro controller co-design/co-verification
  • Familiarity with Cadence and Allegro
  • Experience with electrical interfaces/high speed interface design: PCIe4.0; HDMI; DP, and GDDR5/GDDR6/HBM memory systems
  • Design understanding for the needs of high current dynamic power delivery and high-performance thermal solutions
  • Experience delivering products for high-volume production and cost optimization
  • Experience working with regulatory and compliance validation for consumer electronics
  • Experience providing hardware technical support to ODM/OEM board vendors
  • Willingness for global travel to meet internal teams and with external customers
