Our location in Kansas City, MO currently has an opportunity for an Operations Manager is within our Toxicology business unit. The position of Operations Manager is within our Toxicology business unit located in our Kansas City, MO office. This position sits on the Operations Leadership Team and is responsible for deployment of strategic projects & initiatives as well as service provider oversight and analytical support across Workplace Operations. This individual is strategic, agile, operations and quality focused, and able to effectively oversee and deploy resourcing across multiple priorities and across several departments. This position works closely with both internal and external stakeholders and leads a team of 7-9 direct reports. This role sits in our Rapid Diagnostics Division, and Toxicology Business Unit.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Work collaboratively with the Senior Director, Workplace Operations and Operations Department Directors to develop a multi-year roadmap of key initiatives across the function.
- Lead the construction of an annual plan for strategic initiatives that is resourced, time-boxed and results oriented.
- Oversee the deployment of planned initiatives across Operations, including those managed by direct reports and those managed in other Operations departments.
- Ensure consistency in initiative kick-offs in conjunction with the Senior Director, Workplace Operations and Senior Manager, Strategic Initiatives by way of project charters, intake processes, and project plans that align with desired results. This role is effective by coaching & influencing others in this area.
- Facilitate regular check-ins and report-outs on key initiatives with initiative owners, utilizing a consistent template for initiative updates with a focus on metrics and milestones.
- Coach and guide initiative owners, including direct reports, through project hurdles and roadblocks. Be solutions oriented and empower initiative owners to drive progress.
- Present regular initiative updates to Operations Leadership team and Workplace Leadership team.
- Work closely with Finance and Procurement to align initiatives with P&L expectations.
- Utilize strong business acumen to tie initiatives back to business results including customer outcomes, revenue generation and margin improvement.
- Own the Operations OpEx Roadmap and deploy initiatives within the roadmap through the Operations Process Engineer and Project Manager (direct reports) as well as other Operations leaders.
- Support the management of Operations related Quality initiatives and metrics, in conjunction with Department Directors.
- Design the Operations Analyst team (direct reports) responsibilities to meet the needs of key internal stakeholders, mainly the Operations Department Directors.
- Work in conjunction with the Technical Reporting Services team to ensure data and system access for Operations Analyst team, and to coordinate training on key Analyst products such as Power BI.
- Support the management of key Service Providers within Operations including relationship management, contract adherence and service provider monitoring programs through execution by direct team.
- Understand and be aware of the quality consequences which may occur from the improper performance of their specific job.
- Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practices; build productive internal/external working relationships.
- Carry out duties in compliance with established business policies.
- Other duties as assigned, according to the changing needs of the business.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in Operations or Project Management within the healthcare industry or related field
- Extensive experience leading and managing direct reports
- Extensive experience deployment and managing multiple strategic initiatives
Preferred
- PMP certification
- Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt, Green Belt or Black Belt
- Experience developing multi-year roadmaps and annual plans
- Experience in developing and managing projects using MS project or other project management tools
- Demonstrated ability to effectively and constructively communicate across departmental disciplines while pursuing project goals
- Proven ability to provide sound conclusions and recommendations
- Demonstrated organizational skills with a focus on detailed work
