Application Engineer- Bognor Regis PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Applications Engineer role is to technically support the design, manufacture, installation and maintenance of Eaton DC products including DC power systems, battery backup systems, AC and DC distribution panels, inverters, intelligent controllers and wiring systems. The Application Engineer will be required to gain a deep technical understanding of DC power systems and be able to provide excellent customer technical support and guidance on Eaton DC products. The role will also require frequent customer site visits for the purpose of installation, commissioning and maintenance assistance, project inception and review meetings, site surveys and audits and new project opportunities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ensure you are familiar with the company’s range of DC products. Ensure familiarity with the DC standby power market and competitors technology. To be prepared to travel within the UK or abroad including some occasional outside normal hours working when required. To assist in the ‘design and configuring’ of products and solutions to new customer requirements. To assist sales and project management with site surveys, installation visits and customer meetings. To be an internal / external technical point of contact for DC products and solutions. To learn local MRP system to determine part availability, stock holding and demand and be able to understand and create Bill of Materials (BOMs) for product or installation materials and kits. Use CAD tools where required to define circuit diagrams and layouts of the products and installations. Understand and define circuit diagrams, line schematics and cable wiring details. Understand and experienced in working to BS7671, 17th Edition or above wiring regulations. Be able to work on ‘live’ electrical equipment following all company and regulatory safety procedures. Create method statements and risk assessments and seek customer approval. Assist engineers to generate customer documentation for products including installation manuals, operation guides, maintenance procedures and commissioning/handover documents. Create training packages and deliver training on Eaton DC products to customers and 3rd party installation companies. Collaborate and cooperate with team members to accomplish shared goals. Improve business and departmental processes. Be quality focused. Assist with technical cost out initiatives and help drive through the business. Knowledge of relevant regulatory and safety standards. Support installation commissioning and customer factory acceptance test activities. Managing a diverse and complex range of project issues. Proactively providing the highest levels of customer service to internal and external customers. Qualifications SPECIALISED KNOWLEDGE University Degree or ONC/HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or equivalent. BS7671 Wiring Regulations (minimum 17th edition, 18th edition preferable). Electrical apprenticeship or minimum 3 years Electrical Engineering/Installation experience preferably from within the DC Telecommunications industry. Experience working in an electrical/electronic design, manufacturing or installation environment.
