This brings about an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual who is keen to learn and deliver value add solutions. We are looking for dedicated, self-motivated, highly skilled Project Manager to join the Cloud Operations Team within SDL.

 

The SDL project manager is responsible for managing SDL’s IT projects for its cloud hosted solutions and infrastructure projects. This person is expected to effectively manage projects by co-ordinating activities, ensuring they are undertaken in a controlled and efficient manner, report exceptions with options for remedial action identified and recommended as well as identify project management process improvements and help to implement them into the PMO. This candidate will be a key member of a team who are focused on providing efficient IT solutions to Cloud Operations and our external client facing IT operations team.

  • Participate in cross-functional teams made up of colleagues from Cloud Services, software development, etc. via the phone, e-mail and remote sessions.
  • Ensure appropriate assignments of tasks to team members and manage individual workloads to meet commitments
  • Chair regular project meetings and motivate project teams with clear communication of timelines and deliverables.
  • Work with the engineer’s line managers to agree defined timesplit for the required resources to archieve your project goals whilst balancing operational need.
  • Prepare and present project introduction and summary reports to defined project boards and stakeholders.
  • Ensure all project documentation is completed, to include:  PID’s, project schedule and WBS, communication, status updates, project closure reports.
  • Weekly status reporting to Project Team and PMO and Monthly dashboard reporting to the Cloud PMO
  • Document, monitor and track risks, issues, budget, schedule of project(s)
  • Create, manage and follow processes, procedures and project plans to support the Cloud Operations business.
  • Support Change Management activities as related to the project and internal infrastructure.
  • Consult with PMO to implement a governance framework for how projects are run and managed across SDL Cloud Operations team which in line with PRINCE2 principles.
  • Providing project management to lead the planning, implementation and closure of Cloud Operations projects and initiatives to ensure their proper deployment
  • Develop a deep understanding of stakeholder needs (internal & external), translating business needs into prioritized requirements and projects
  • Escalate issues to the PMO and/or Steering Committee, as needed.
  • Ensure Project-specific contract obligations and deliverables are completed in accordance with the project schedule
  • Help administer the groups ISO accreditation's by becoming the liaison point between IT and the SDL Quality and standards department.

 

Essential skills and experience:

 

  • 3+ years’ experience working within an IT team in a project management capacity with good working knowledge of PRINCE2, its principles and how to apply that to an organisation and a knowledge of ITIL.
  • Proven experience of creating and rolling out repeatable plans, processes and procedures in an Operational environment
  • Self-starter, ability to manage multiple concurrent projects comprised of geographically spread project teams.
  • Ability to track and measure current status against plans
  • A great relationship builder and maintainer with work package owners and stakeholders.
  • Customer/Client facing experience with excellent customer service skills with a professional demeanor.
  • Experience working within: Operations, Cloud, a PMO, as a proactive team member in a commercially hosted/data centre environment.
  • Ability to easily adapt to the needs of the team to enable communication flow and provide understandable documentation for non-PM team members.
  • Understanding of how to manage change projects within a SaaS & Cloud environment with cross-functional teams
  • Strong facilitation skills with excellent verbal and written communication skills in English with ability to deliver presentations
  • Highly organised and methodical as well as analytical.

Technical skills:

  • Familiarity with project management tools (i.e. MS Project).
  • Technical background in IT/SaaS project delivery.
  • Demonstrable experience with managing projects using the PRINCE2 methodology.
  • Understanding of what is involved in running a cloud based SaaS delivery team vs traditional Enterprise IT team.

 

Desirable Qualifications 

  • Graduate level or equivalent
  • Practitioner Level in Project Management (e.g. APMP, PRINCE 2, PMP or equivalent)
