Eaton’s Electrical Group is currently seeking a Technical Sales Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Denver, Colorado or Salt Lake City, Utah locations. Position Overview: The Technical Sales Engineer is responsible for increasing customer preference and driving specification and demand for Crouse-Hinds and B-Line’s support system products in the marketplace for their assigned geographic region. In this position you will meet with engineering firms, architectural firms, consultants, end users, contractors, OEM’s, and others to deliver technical presentations, write specifications, drive B-Line and Crouse product category demand and build and grow key customer relationships within a given territory. The technical sales engineer will also be responsible for training our internal and external audiences, including local agent sales teams and customers, as it pertains to these products. You will be expected to assist the internal product management and engineering teams with customer feedback on new product development projects. In addition, they will be expected to formulate customer needs and concerns into workable product specifications to be implemented by the appropriate product manager. This position requires complex technical knowledge and strong communication skills to be able to make technical recommendations on product solutions. A highly entrepreneurial sense of urgency along with a passion for the industry is desirable, along with a drive to grow both personally and professionally. In this function you will: Drive Crouse-Hinds and B-Line regional and national product demand through specification with end-users, Architectural and Engineering (A & E) Firms, and Design/Build contractors (D/B) contractors. Develop and maintain liaison with top management of key regional contractor accounts located within the territory. Be responsible for initiating and implementing individual training for reps and distributors and factory direct sales staff. Ensure pull through in the sales channel by working with regional sales management and partnering with key distribution personnel. Understand and demonstrate the features and benefits of the full line of industrial support products including training others on product usage and applications. Ensure appropriate technical assistance regarding product applications to engineering consultants, OEM’s, users, inspection and standards personnel, contractors, etc. Train our Sales Force on how to specify, sell, and properly apply the products. Trains our customers on how to specify the products. Develop and presents technical seminars for customers, sales personnel, distributors, specifying engineers, and trade shows keeping the customer aware of the manufacturing capabilities including: design, fabrication and assembly abilities. Work cross-functionally to recommend, develop, and execute new or modified programs to ensure a competitive position is maintained within the sales territory. Leverages strength of Crouse-hinds presence to drive B-line adoption, and vice versa. Recommend appropriate product usage to Consulting Engineers and Contractors. Select suitable products from existing inventory and proposes/develops new products to meet customer demand. Why work at Eaton? Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution Minimum of 3 years of experience in the electrical and support system industry. Minimum of 2 years of experience making group presentations. Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted driver’s license No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Denver, CO or Salt Lake City, UT will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation. Sponsorship is not available. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without requiring company sponsorship. Preferred qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Structural, or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution MBA from an accredited institution. 3+ years working in a specification-based industry and engineering experience. MBA is a plus Position Criteria: Willingness to travel with flexibility on time requirements. Ability to work independently from home office. Excellent communication skills with ability to think on your feet to field technical questions. Ability to learn, grow, and deal with ambiguity and change. A strong bias towards ownership and action. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and overall comfort with computer/digital systems. General comfort/decision making driven by data analytics (like slicers, PowerBI dashboards, CRM tools, etc.). Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Eaton provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices. The annual salary range for this role is $87,200 – $119,900 a year. Eligible for a performance-based Sales Incentive Plan with a target at 25% of base.
