Intel has announced a major expansion of Intel’s production capacities in Europe and plans to develop two first-of-their-kind semiconductor fabs in Magdeburg, Germany, the capital of Saxony-Anhalt. Planning has started, with construction expected to begin in the first half of 2023 and production planned to come online in 2027, subject to European Commission State aid approval and funding approval by the German authorities.
Global Construction Engineering (GCE) is responsible for the design and engineering of all of Intel's major manufacturing and cleanroom projects across the globe. We are a team of specialized in-house architects and engineers in a highly collaborative environment. We work together with our factory, operations, and supply chain partners to deliver some of the most technically challenging projects in the world with demanding schedules and cost constraints.
Our Design Managers provide project leadership for technical engineering and design execution. They are one of the first to be consulted for any construction project. Early in the project, they assemble a team of engineering specialists and assess the feasibility of new projects. They later lead the development of a more detailed scope through field walks and collaboration with facilities operations partners and project engineers. During detailed design and construction performed by our world-class supply chain partners, our Design Managers serve as the Owner's representative to provide technical guidance and issue resolution.
This is an on-site position and work will be performed in person at the Magdeburg, Germany site.
As a Design Manager - Global Construction Engineering your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Intensive planning & design efforts in various areas of this function, for this project and related projects
Be the primary leader who manages the overall project scope, schedule, and cost of engineering.
Interface and coordinate with contract design, construction, scheduling, and estimating resources.
Interface with facilities staff and project managers.
Lead the effort of engineers who define design criteria, lead scope definition and justification, and develop design concepts.
Oversee completion of positioning, programming and detailed design.
Work with estimators to ensure costs are captured and project budgets are met.
Ensure implementation of the change control process to improve standards and drive innovative solutions.

Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Position not eligible for Intel immigration sponsorship.
Minimum Qualifications:
The candidate must possess at least one of these:
Bachelor's degree in an Engineering related field with 6+ years of experience in project management in design or construction. EQF level 6 or higher
Master's degree in an Engineering related field with 4+ years of experience in project management in design or construction. EQF level 7 or higher
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Technical writing.
Focus on industrial, semiconductor, high-tech, and cleanroom projects.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction contract
Location:
The final location is the Magdeburg site
The interim location of this role is Home Based Office until office premises will be available, ETA: Q4 2022
