Eaton’s Utility segment of its Digital Office is looking for a Software Test specialist. This position may be located at our Montreal offices or remote from within the surrounding Montreal areas. Position Overview: The Software Test Specialist ensures the products developed are tested effectively in order to deliver them to market quickly, while meeting the high quality standards in effect at Eaton. They do this by proposing, implementing and maintaining the testing environment, with the objective of increasing the coverage of automated tests and minimizing manual testing. They participate in the definition of needs and solutions, by sharing expertise to ensure the testability of deliverables and the maintainability of test infrastructures. The Software Test Specialist is part of the development team, and therefore works closely with developers, product managers (technical and marketing), project managers and other members of the software group. They participate in sprint planning exercises, daily Scrum meetings, and end-of-sprint reviews and retrospectives. The candidate will be exposed to different aspects and technologies of our Substation Automation products, and will therefore quickly become a reference in the energy domain and the use cases of our products from our customers standpoint. The Software Test Specialist, will also be called upon to collaborate with other teams within Eaton, with the objective of contributing to the success of collaborative projects or to ensure the quality of a family of products that share features or work together to offer integrated solutions. Essential Responsibilities: Test automation Automate tests to ease product release, Maintain automated tests, Investigate problems that occurred during automated tests, Implement performance testing. Test Tools management Evaluate tools in the market to accelerate development and release of products to our customers, Use and maintain current tools. Test Management Participate in test plan development, Help define test strategy, Develop automated tests, Generate test reports, Give recommendations regarding product release. Test Prepare the test environment, Execute different types of tests: exploratory, white box, performance, acceptance, security on web, Windows and embedded applications. Task Management Plan, estimate, organize and execute test or automated test development activities, Carry on follow-ups on the tasks and the plan. Qualifications Required Qualifications: College degree from an accredited institution 4 years of experience in software testing of Windows-based software applications in an Agile environment Hands-on experience with automated test tools such as Microsoft Test Manager, SmartBear, CPP unit, JBehave, or Cucumber and automated test patterns Experience developing test plans, test cases and test procedures to include test scenarios Effective troubleshooting and reasoning skills: debug and resolve difficult technical problems Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship Must reside within an 80km radius of our Montreal office, can work remote if residing within the surrounding areas of Montreal. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science or related discipline Proven successes in system testing, black-box, integration, exploratory, performance, load, and regression testing Experience with Acceptance Test Driven Development. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French Experience with basic networking, Serial/TCP/UDP ISTQB Certification We provide benefits that are industry competitive and focused on employee well-being.
