The Wireless Standards Team of Intel is responsible for pre-standards technology development, standardization activities in Standards Development Organizations (SDO), system engineering, and ecosystem engagement on wireless systems. The team actively participates and contributes in leading SDOs and industrial forums such as 3GPP, IEEE, ATIS, CCSA, ETSI, TSDSI, NGMN, GSMA, ITU-R, 5GAA, 5G-ACIA, AECC, IOWN GF, Next G Alliance, etc. The candidate will be responsible for participating and defining the future wireless system and standards such as 5G-Advanced/6G Standards.
As a 5G-Advanced/6G Standards Engineer, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Design and standardization of 5G-Advanced/6G features in 3GPP and related SDO
Representing Intel in related SDOs (e.g., 3GPP, IETF, Next G Alliance).
Creating intellectual property, writing technical contributions, and defending them in the standards meetings.
Architecting and performing simulations of wireless systems and network.
Writing meeting reports and providing periodical status updates and tutorials for the features that are defined in the attended working groups.
Works closely with Intel's product teams for technology transfer, interpretation of SDO specifications, and internal/external interface for Intel technology collaboration.
The job position requires work with global standards bodies which may require travel for meetings in North America, Europe, and Asia.

Qualifications
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
Minimum qualifications:
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 4+ years of experience in wireless/cellular communications and working in global standards bodies and industry alliances (such as 3GPP, NGMN, Next G Alliance, IEEE, etc) or a PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field of study with 2+ years of related experience.
Preferred qualifications:
PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with minimum 5+ years of wireless standards engineering.
Knowledge of 3GPP 5G NR and/or 4G LTE specifications.
Knowledgeable in physical layer operations and related system design.
Knowledgeable in wireless systems including radio access network interface and architecture.
Knowledgeable in core network and cross layers design and inter-dependency.
Experience in radio access network standards activities.
Experience with physical layer link- and/or system-level simulations.
Programming skills (in languages such as C/C++, MATLAB, Python).

Work Model for this Role
This role is available as fully home-based and generally would require you to attend Intel sites only occasionally based on business need.
