Job Description
Reporting to the Project Manager, the role of the Project Engineer is central to the Project execution of the Eaton communications product line including PAGA, IPTV, intercom and CCTV. The role gives involvement and ownership of each Project from the point of initial Project award through to the final stage sign off by the client; always ensuring the Project is engineered and executed in-line with the contract and Eaton's expectations. The Project Engineer is responsible for owning the Project, designing the solution from base products and discrete components, communicating requrements internally within Eaton, supporting all internal departments, required to complete the Project on time and within budget. The Project Engineer will be responsible for change management within the Project and control of this within Eaton, always ensuring that very commercial exposure is raised with managment through to resolution. The Project Engineer will be the central contact for all internal and external stakeholders relating to the Project. As such, they are required to be up to date with all aspects of the Project and regularly communicate progress against the Project Plan, assisting with escalation planning where necessary. The role will require face to face contact with clients throughout the Project Cycle, conduct witness testing and may require overseas travel as and when necessary. Responsibilities Working as part of the communications team to deliver PAGA (Public Addressed/General Alarms) system solutions to specification and on time. Read the specifications and provide the seller with 'Compliance / Non-Compliance' support where necessary or required. Pre-plan specifications for the sales department when needed. Provide technical support internally and externally and assist with technical solutions, as well as during customer visits. Propose bid estimates for approval by team leader or department manager. Write technical procedures as required. Designing to meet specification PAGA systems from base components and proven systems. Ensuring all design documents are internally and externally approved prior to commencement of Project build. Creation of full document packs including block diagrams, general arrangements, internal schematics, interconnection diagrams, cable schedules, installation schedules test procedures and more. Prepare production material and monitor the construction of Project-specific items and the functional of the complete system in accordance with the contract and the applicable specifications. Follow up activities and milestone in the current ERP system. Report on progress and status of own projects. Responsibility includes documentation according to specification. The Project Manager will coordinate the preparation of necessary documentation with assistance of the Project Engineer. Participate in technical evaluation of Projects before a final order confirmation to customers and in FAT with customers. Particpate in development and further development of new and existing products. This also includes coordination and documentation of parts from sub-suppliers whish are sold as part of a project. Qualifications Good understanding of change control within a project environment Min 3 years' experience within the PAGA or CCTV market, preferably within an industrial Oil and Gas Market. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related field is preferable but not essential. Excellent computer literacy and knowledge of design, visualisation software (eg AutoCAD, Solid Works) and ERP technical usage (SAP) The ability to work both independently and as part of a team with multiple discipliine projects. Excellent organisational, time management and decision-making skills. Knowledge of applicable codes, policies, standards and best practices. An excellent knowledge and understanding of electrical engineering for telecommunications, panel design. PAGA or CCTV experience would be essential. Have the ability to produce high quality accurate Electrical wiring drawings in support of the activities outlined above, including: Scheme Design, Detailed System Design, terminal plans and related documents. Essential experience of working within a project led enviroment and challenging timescales. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience in baic mechanical design is beneficial.
