About The Role:
RWS are looking for an SQL Administrator. The primary responsibility is to maintain the SQL infrastructure that underpins RWS Global Business operations. The role will also work with the RWS internal & offshore development team. As part of RWS’s global technology team which supports the RWS Language Services business and internal business operations, this role will be responsible for the administration and maintenance of RWS’s internal database infrastructure configure servers and automate tasks to improve performance and improve reliability.
You will work with the Internal RWS Development and test teams assisting them with the development activities. This can include providing guidance on complex queries and the optimization of processes and statements. You will be expected to share your knowledge through mentorship and training of the development team(s) to enhance their database knowledge and skill set.
 
Main Duties Include:
* SQL server 2012 -2019 , upgrade & migration, performance tuning
* SQL maintenance & backups,  ensuring server & database scalability & reliability, archiving 
* SQL job management & monitoring, security, SQL troubleshooting, error monitoring
* Transact SQL (TSQL) & willingness to work with developers to support & modify existing database systems
* SQL service pack & patching (out of hours), data model reviews of undocumented systems
* Project work implementing new systems with database components
* Validating data models and be involved with testing to ensure that the database systems can meet the end user’s requirements.

Requirements:
* Experience with Database Administration for MSSQL Server, troubleshooting and resolving database problems.
* Performance Tuning and Optimisation, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools, Patching and Upgrading HA systems, backups, restores and recovery models.
* Good knowledge of written and spoken English and Czech
* Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for MSSQL Server.
* Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts.
* Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics.
* Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory.
* Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on the Company’s success.
* Critical thinker and problem-solving skills.
* Team player, collaboration with remote teams is essential
* Ability to work independently, but able to report plans & progress
* Follow company process eg change control
* Good time-management skills, and interpersonal, communication skills.
* MCDBA, MCTS, MCITP is considered a plus
