Job Description
Position Overview The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for overseeing inventory processes, inspecting inventory, maintaining accurate records, and reporting. This role is part of a dedicated warehouse team supporting the Gas Chromatograph and Integration (GCI) manufacturing business in Houston, TX. This position is expected to cross-train in all materials process functions to best support operational requirements as assigned and to actively engage in applicable SAP transitions. This position reports to the Warehouse and Logistics Manager. Responsibilities Maintain the organization’s inventory through facilitation and adherence with company policies and procedures Organize regular stock maintenance and inventory in the storage areas Maintain inventory accuracy through implementation and maintenance of cycle count program Validating proper counting practices, reconciliation and developing inventory reports Responsible for maintenance and cycle counting of consignment inventory Monitoring and verifying proper inventory transactions Maintain proper inventory levels of wire and tubing based on company demands Solves problems regarding inventory issues, including warranty and field service requests Develops and maintains good working relationships with vendors Maintains accurate daily records of goods received and shipments made Complete month end closings of operational requirements for cost capture, billing, and backlog Participates in the identification and removal of slow-moving inventory Provides inventory reports to purchasing and warehouse manager Manages and maintains inventory system; facilitates upgrades to related database and/or software under the direction of the purchasing or inventory control manager Shows initiative in developing solutions to improve inventory management Partner with the financial team to generate finance reports Performs other related duties as assigned Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience High school diploma or equivalent 3 years vocational training or 3 years practical experience needed Proficient with SAP ERP – minimum 2 years experience SAP MM module transaction experience Basic understanding of inventory control procedures Proficient with Microsoft suite, (Word, Outlook, and Excel) Experience with computerized inventory systems Ability to perform math calculations Excellent communication skills with warehouse workers, purchasing department, and outside vendors Lift objects up to 50lbs on occasion (bend, reach, walk, stand for extended periods) 0% travel required Where permitted by applicable law, Siemens may require employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 based on job requirements, and in accordance with an accommodation based on legally protected reasons.
