Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Develop, maintain, and optimize testing equipment for feeder lines such as MDA’s in SMT as well as functional tests in final assembly lines ensuring safety for personnel in the operations and product Quality. Provide support to engineering and maintenance to solve problems related to electronic products and to machinery controls. Plan, organize and direct the work assignments for assigned technician team. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Develop safe testing equipment for all production lines. This includes MDA’s, subassembly, and final tests for both electronic and mechanical products. Ensure Safety Culture is deployed to his reporting group. Maintain, calibrate, and optimize existing test equipment, identifying safety or performance gaps and correcting them. Perform continuous process improvement, quality and cost reduction through changes and improvements to equipment and test equipment. Support the Department of engineering and maintenance to complex problems through his knowledge and experience. Coordinate or provide suggestions to the service departments of Equipment Manufacturers. Conduct, support and/or participate in training programs, either technical or continuous improvement related, i.e., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Flow, Cost reduction. Create or modify the preventive maintenance and calibration routines for the various production and test fixtures and additional components (i.e., calibration targets). Cost Reduction through: Analyzing and eliminating repetitive equipment failures which increase the cost for repairs and machine downtime; Search and replace parts that are more efficient with a longer lifetime; Redesigning product catalog. Support PROLaunch projects and Engineering changes by programming and constructing new testing equipment/devices and helping write new test procedures. Participate in development and support systems Eaton Quality System and Lean system. Champion MSA through the plant. Supervise the technician team. Meet any other activity assigned by your supervisor or special requirements of the company. Active participation in continues improvements programs and committees. Comply the Eaton Business System (EBS), in foundations, Planning, Growth, Functional Excellence, Assessment and Learning, mainly in the Eaton Business Excellence (EBE); ISO 9001 / ISO 14001 and its tools (such as: Eaton Quality System (EQS), Eaton Lean System and Six Sigma-ELS, HR Operating Review and Employee Survey. Know and comply the Policies: Global Ethics, Values and Philosophy, Management Environmental Safety and Security and Health (MESH). MESH compliance and follow up of policies and goals Report any unsafe act or condition. Qualifications SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE: BASIC QUALIFICATION Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Electromechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited institution required. Minimum of 3 years quality and manufacturing processes and systems experience in a large company required. Must have good verbal and written communication skills in English Spanish required. No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate geographical area will be considered for this position. Must be proficient in Excel, Power Point, Word. Knowledge and experience with electromechanical and electronic industrial products (specially the last). Experience in Design and PLC Programming and Computer Systems. In-circuit tests i.e., MDA Checksum Experience in programming high level languages (Visual Basic, LabVIEW, C++, etc.). Experience in database systems (Access, SQL, earliest version). Experience with PC control instruments (GPIB, DIO). Integrated circuits programming (PICs, MCU’s i.e., Silab). Knowledge of Electronic, Electrical Control, Metrology, Hydraulic and Pneumatic control. Electronic schematics interpretation. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Strong computer applications skills (specially datasheets and databases); experience on analytical software tools (ie.
