Position Title:English/EAL
Grade Level:High School(Grades 10-12)

Reports To:Principal
Objective of the Position:
As an English Language Arts/,you will be tasked with delivering Englishinstruction to high school students,ensuring that learning outcomes are met and student development isconsistently assessed.You will apply creative teaching strategies and diverse resources to foster studentengagement,promote critical thinking,and strengthen problem-solving abilities.Working closely withcolleagues and actively participating in professional development is expected as these will be vital inimproving teaching practices and supporting the broader academic goals of the school.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Curriculum Delivery
Plan and implement lessons in English,EAL,and Social Science subjects such as Global Economicsand Mikmaq Studies
√Differentiate instruction for multilingual learners and culturally diverse classrooms.
√Integrate academic reading and writing strategies in both EAL and Social Studies content.√Engage students in discussion,inquiry,and critical thinking using real-world social issues
Assessment and Evaluation
√Design and apply formative and summative assessments to evaluate language proficiency and socialscience knowledge.√Record student progress according to Nova Scotia assessment standards.√Provide feedback to students and maintain parent communication as required.
Professional Engagement
√Participate in school functions,staff meetings,and professional development workshops.√Collaborate with English,EAL,and Arts colleagues on interdisciplinary initiatives.
√Stay updated on best practices in EAL,literature,and drama pedagogy.
Qualifications and Experience
Required:
√Bachelor's Degree in Education.
√Valid teaching certificate (Nova Scotia certification preferred)√Teaching experience in English and/or Social Science at the secondary level
√Experience working with English language learners
√Strong cross-cultural communication skills
