Job Overview
As an Engineering Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing the entire process of engineering projects from initiation to delivery. You will ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and with high quality, while coordinating resources from all parties, meeting client needs, and enhancing the company’s reputation and effectiveness in the engineering project field.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning and Initiation
◦ Collaborate closely with clients, internal teams, and stakeholders to clarify project goals, scope, timelines, and budgets; develop detailed and feasible project plans, including schedules and resource allocation plans.
◦ Conduct project risk assessments, identify potential risks (such as technical difficulties, supply chain disruptions, and regulatory changes), and formulate response strategies for prevention and resolution.
◦ Organize project kickoff meetings to clearly communicate project objectives, task assignments, and work requirements to team members.
2. Team Management
◦ Build cross-departmental project teams, including engineers, designers, construction personnel, and procurement staff; assign tasks reasonably based on project needs, and clarify team members’ responsibilities and performance goals.
◦ Motivate and guide team members, conduct regular team-building activities to enhance cohesion and work efficiency, resolve internal conflicts and issues, and foster a positive work atmosphere.
◦ Evaluate team members’ performance, provide feedback and training opportunities, and support their professional skill improvement and career development.
3. Resource Management
◦ Coordinate and manage resources required for the project, including human, material, and financial resources. Arrange staff working hours and workloads reasonably to avoid waste or over-allocation of resources.
◦ Collaborate with the procurement department to ensure materials and equipment are procured on time, with required quality and quantity; control procurement costs and maintain good relationships with suppliers.
◦ Monitor the implementation of project budgets, conduct regular cost accounting and analysis, promptly identify and correct overspending issues, and ensure the project is completed within budget.
4. Project Execution and Monitoring
◦ Supervise the project execution process, track progress against the project plan, promptly identify and resolve issues during execution, and ensure the project proceeds as scheduled.
◦ Regularly report project progress to clients, management, and other stakeholders, providing accurate status reports covering progress, quality, and costs.
◦ Strictly control project quality, establish quality standards and inspection procedures, ensure deliverables comply with relevant specifications and client requirements, and organize internal acceptance and final inspections before delivery.
5. Communication and Coordination
◦ Maintain close communication with clients to promptly understand changes in their needs and expectations, coordinate solutions to client issues, and ensure client satisfaction.
◦ Establish effective communication channels with external partners (such as suppliers, subcontractors, and government departments), coordinate their work, and ensure smooth project progress.
◦ Organize internal cross-departmental meetings to resolve collaboration issues between departments, promote information sharing and efficient cooperation.
6. Project Closure
◦ Organize project acceptance, ensure deliverables pass inspections by clients and relevant departments, address issues identified during acceptance, and ensure successful project delivery.
◦ Summarize and evaluate the project, analyze successful experiences and shortcomings, compile a project summary report, and provide references for future projects.
◦ Sort and archive project documents, including project plans, technical documents, meeting minutes, and change records, to ensure the completeness and traceability of project data.
Qualifications
1. Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree or above in Engineering Management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Automation, or related fields.
2. Work Experience: 3–5 years of experience in engineering project management; experience in managing large-scale engineering projects is preferred.
3. Professional Skills
◦ Familiar with project management processes and methods; holders of PMP (Project Management Professional) or other relevant certifications are preferred.
◦ Mastery of professional knowledge in engineering fields (such as construction, machinery, and electrical engineering) and ability to understand and review technical plans.
◦ Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera P6) and office software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
4. Competencies
◦ Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to effectively motivate and guide team members.
