Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and highly qualified High School Chemistry Teacher to join our dynamic Science Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and challenging chemistry instruction to students in our international streams, primarily in AP Chemistry, IB Chemistry, and/or Cambridge A-Level Chemistry.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Classroom Instruction & Curriculum Delivery:

Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, inquiry-based lessons in Chemistry for courses such as AP, IB, and A-Level.

Develop and implement curriculum that aligns with the specific standards, aims, and assessment objectives of the AP, IB, and/or Cambridge International frameworks.

Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs, interests, and language backgrounds of students in an international setting.

Integrate technology effectively to enhance student learning and scientific investigation.

2. Assessment & Evaluation:

Design and administer a variety of formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.

Prepare students thoroughly for internal assessments, practical work (e.g., IB IA, A-Level Practicals), and final external examinations.

3. Laboratory Management & Safety:

Organize, manage, and maintain a safe, orderly, and well-equipped chemistry laboratory.

Supervise and instruct students in proper laboratory techniques, with a strong emphasis on safety protocols and procedures.

Manage inventory of chemicals and equipment, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

4. Student Support & Pastoral Care:

Create a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment that values diversity and promotes student well-being.

Provide academic guidance and support to students, including offering extra help sessions and supervising Extended Essays or research projects (for IB).

5. Collaboration & Community Engagement:

Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Science Department and across the school to share best practices and develop interdisciplinary links.

Participate actively in departmental meetings, professional development, and school-wide events.

Maintain regular and effective communication with parents regarding student progress.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:

A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field. A Master’s degree is highly preferred.

A recognized teaching qualification/certification (e.g., PGCE, Teaching License) preferred.

A minimum of 2 years of proven experience successfully teaching Chemistry at the high school level, with specific experience in either: AP Chemistry, IB Chemistry , or Cambridge A-Level Chemistry.
