Air Products Canada Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Air Products and Chemicals Inc., has manufacturing and distribution operations in Quebec, Ontario and Alberta as well as Advanced Adsorption Technology testing facilities in Burnaby, BC. Air Products (NYSE:APD) core industrial gas business provides atmospheric and process gases and related equipment to manufacturing markets, including refining and petrochemical, metals, electronics, and food and beverage. Air Products Canada Ltd has experienced growth in Edmonton and the surrounding area, tapping into our expertise as the world leader in the supply of hydrogen. We currently have three world class hydrogen production facilities supplying customers throughout the Alberta Industrial Heartland through an integrated pipeline system.
This opportunity requires a unique blend of business insight, technical, analytical and communication skills with a continuous process improvement mindset. It is best suited for a developing engineer or someone with a strong technical background who would like to gain exposure to commercial dealings and business management. The successful candidate will be technically sound with a passion for impacting the bottom line in a significant way. The position requires a highly motivated, self-starter with strong analytical and critical thinking skills who is capable of independent learning. Associated with the position is the potential for growth within the role and beyond commensurate with the candidate’s skills and development.
Asset Management: Collaborating closely with operations, provide technical support and commercial guidance on the overall production and transportation of hydrogen aimed at improving overall profitability. Strong focus on safety, reliability, efficiency, cost management, and overall system optimization. Identify and evaluate alternatives to mitigate business and operational risks.
Technical/Financial Analysis: Develop justifications, and perform economic and technical evaluations of projects to be executed. Support Root Cause Analysis investigations, develop formal presentations and complete technical reports required for internal stakeholders and customers. Develop, prioritize and support the execution of productivity projects to achieve business targets.
Business Development: Assess potential market opportunities and understand customer’s technical/operational needs. Seek opportunities to provide business project development support and technical solutions. Complete opportunity assessments, technology comparisons, and budgetary proposals. Opportunity to negotiate and execute multi-year supply agreements.

Position summary
We are currently seeking highly motivated Engineer (P.Eng/EIT) in the HyCO Americas business segment for an Account Manager position located in Edmonton, Alberta. Working both independently and in a team environment, you will be responsible for asset management, account management, technical/financial analysis and business development.This opportunity requires a unique blend of business insight, technical, analytical and communication skills with a continuous process improvement mindset. Principal accountabilities:
Account Management: Develop and effectively lead high quality, long-term customer relationships for assigned accounts. Manage product supply/demand forecasts, contract compliance, invoicing data and accounts receivable. Act as a technical interface and collaborate on issue resolution. Job requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical preferred). MBA an asset.
- Registered or eligible to register in Alberta with APEGA (EIT or P.Eng)
- 2 to 5+ years of relevant engineering experience within process, technical, operations or manufacturing role(s). Previous co-op or work term experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Attentive to details.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of chemical, petrochemical, refining & upgrading operations preferred
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point)
- Possess a valid driver’s license, ability to travel within Canada & the US
