Job Overview



The Advanced Engineering team drives innovation at Daimler Trucks North America to improve and enhance safety through the development of intelligent vehicle controls and increasing automation. We shape the future of transportation by pushing the boundaries of engineering and technology.
 
As an Advanced Engineering team member, the successful candidate will be involved in the design, development and validation of advanced active safety technologies in the proof of concept phase. From theoretical concepts to fully functioning prototypes, you will join a team of dedicated engineers working hard to develop the next generation of systems that avoid accidents.

Responsibilities

- Work on designing, developing and validating advanced active safety technologies in the proof of concept phase.
- Work on developing functional prototypes of new active safety systems for Daimler Trucks North America products.
- Keep pace with the latest sensor technology (radar, lidar, camera, sensor fusion, GPS, high resolution maps, etc.), evaluate performance, and support integration in the prototype active safety systems.
- Technical support with modeling and analyzing the performance of the newly developed ADAS systems.

- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university/college required

- A degree focus in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Automotive Engineering, System Engineering or a related field is preferred

- An attached resume is required 

- Strong desire to learn writing control software, creating use cases and test cases required

- Strong desire to be part of a deeply-skilled team and to engineer the newest active safety systems for the next generation of commercial vehicles required

- Good communication and presentation skills required

- German language knowledge or willingness to learn preferred

- Commercial vehicle driver's license or willingness to obtain it preferred

- Ability to quickly learn new technologies and/or programming languages preferred

- Senior/engineering design project in vehicle controls, implementing Kalman filters and porting to embedded systems preferred

- Experience with simulation and modeling tools (e.g. Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow, dSpace or equivalent) preferred

- Knowledge of engineering statistics preferred

- Knowledge of mobile embedded systems preferred
