Responsibilities
The Associate coordinates all client activity, serving as the central point of contact for both internal and external constituents associated with an institutional client relationship. Associates are in constant communication with various internal departments to ensure that client requests and expectations are met or exceeded. This will include building effective and trusted relationships first and foremost with the Sales Advisor and Sales team, but also with colleagues including portfolio management, business development, product management, operations, client reporting, legal, finance and compliance, among others.
Associates are responsible for handling all client and prospective client requests specific to the relationships to which they are assigned. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- acting as first and main point of contact for all client inquiries
- collaborating with colleagues in other internal departments including, but not limited to, portfolio management, business development, product management, operations, client reporting, legal, finance and compliance, to successfully resolve client issues
- managing the new account take-on process including the coordination of investment management agreement reviews
- primary involvement in the AML/CTF process for new clients and ongoing annual certification for AML and KYC purposes
- facilitating contributions to, and withdrawals from, client portfolios, both via cash and in specie methods
- ensuring timely and accurate client reporting
- producing client service and prospecting materials such as presentations, investment strategy data and correspondence
- attending, participating in and occasionally hosting, meetings, calls and videoconference calls with clients and prospects
- coordination of Due Diligence Questionnaires (DDQs) / RFIs / RFPs for prospective new clients and existing clients
- maintaining client files and databases
- as appropriate, participating in ad hoc project work and new initiatives related to the Asia ex Japan Client Group or the firm
Associates are expected to be fully trained and competent in dealing directly with client and prospective clients in a knowledgeable and professional manner. They will be provided additional responsibility as they progress within the role, which often includes additional client-facing responsibilities.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will be a motivated and service-oriented individual eager to learn about or expand their knowledge in all aspects of the institutional asset management business.
- Undergraduate university degree
- 2-3 years prior work experience, preferably within a client service role and/or within asset management
- Interest in the finance sector and financial markets
- Detail oriented and with strong analytical skills
- Strong time management and organisation skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- A strong team player
- Motivated self-starter willing to take ownership of work
- Strong work ethic and ambitious
- Languages: Fluent spoken and written English, Cantonese and Mandarin preferable but not necessary
