Job Description

The school is seeking an experienced and motivated AP Academic English Teacher to join the high school department. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality instruction that prepares students for academic study in English and supports success in the AP curriculum and overseas university applications.

The role focuses on developing students’ academic reading, writing, research, and critical thinking skills within an English-medium learning environment.

Key responsibilities include planning and delivering engaging lessons, assessing student progress, and supporting students in developing the academic English skills required for advanced coursework.
Responsibilities

Teach Academic English courses to high school students preparing for AP subjects

Develop students’ academic reading, writing, and analytical skills

Support students with research, essay writing, and presentation skills

Prepare students for AP coursework and English-medium university study

Design lesson plans, assessments, and course materials

Monitor student progress and provide feedback to students and parents

Participate in curriculum development and academic planning

Contribute to school activities, meetings, and professional development

Work collaboratively with colleagues across subject departments

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, Linguistics, or a related field

Recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent) preferred

Experience teaching high school or pre-university English

Experience with AP, IB, A-Level, or international curriculum preferred

Strong understanding of academic writing and research skills

Excellent classroom management and communication skills

Ability to work in an international and multicultural environment
