Job Description
Position: AP Capstone (Research) Teacher
- Location: Shanghai, China
- Student Age: 16-17 (US G11)
- Teaching Hours: 20*45-minute classes per week
- Curricula: AP
- Class Size: 20 students
- Start Date: August 2026
Representative Subject Assignment (all subjects are 5*45-minute classes each):
1. 4*AP Research
Requirements:
- Native speaker of English or to have obtained a university degree in which the instructional language was English.
- Bachelor’s degree with a major or minor in any discipline.
- Master's degree (Research, not Taught)
- Two or more years of high school teaching experience relevant to your undergraduate or postgraduate discipline.
- Must have research-based university experience, such as an undergraduate honors degree dissertation/thesis or a research-based postgraduate degree, diploma, or certificate.
- Teaching Licence/Qualification (e.g. US Teaching Certification, UK QTS, etc.)
- Certificate of non-criminal record
- Experience teaching AP Seminar, EPQ. Global Perspectives, etc.
- Must provide two references (both phone number & institutional email address).
- Must be able to lead a student-centered, project-based curriculum of inquiry and reflection.
- (Preferred) Experience teaching AP Research
- (Preferred) Master’s degree in Education or in a field relevant to this discipline.
- (Preferred) Experience in teaching argumentative/ persuasive writing
Renumeration and Benefits:
- Total renumeration for the first contracted year: 24,000-32,000 before tax, inclusive of housing allowance.
- Fully paid vacation including summer, winter, and all national holidays.
- Annual flight reimbursement.
- Health insurance.

- Please prepare examples of student classwork or homework for the interview (both the prompt and samples of student work that was produced, with any identifying information removed). Instructors who are unable to produce evidence of their experience and expertise need not apply.
- As AP Capstone is an interdisciplinary program, teachers from any discipline are eligible to apply as long as they have the requisite high school teaching experience in their own field. However, please note that AP Seminar: English requires that students be taught to read and write from a broad array of literary and academic sources, as well as to write research papers, argumentative essays, to synthesize sources and deliver multimedia presentations. Therefore, experience in fostering these skills in student is advantageous.
