DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The APAC Ethics and Compliance Officer will oversee the corporate compliance function as it relates to the Company’s APAC region and provide legal advices a broad spectrum of legal issues as well.

  • Reinforce and support a work culture that prioritizes ethics and compliance—ensuring that company policies and procedures are followed and that behavior within the organization meets the company’s Code of Conduct.
  • Identify potential areas of compliance risk; develop and implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues; and establish metrics to measure progress towards resolution of compliance risks.
  • Manage day-to-day operation of the Company’s compliance program and all aspects of the regional training and learning program. This includes measuring the compliance program’s effectiveness and continually updating compliance controls, training programs, and regional policies to maintain relevance and effectiveness.
  • Respond to inquiries received through the Company hotline and compliance concerns received through other channels. The role will also involve assessing patterns of conduct to identify and lead, where needed, the updating and improvement of compliance controls.
  • Provide effective legal support, work product and business counseling covering all legal practice areas, including corporate support for SEAP and India.
  • Advise business on legal considerations relating to business activities, strategic initiatives and operational plans.
  • Manage pending / threatened litigation and arbitration and develop appropriate strategies and settlements for the same

REQUIREMENTS:

Required Skills:

  • Be able to explain complex compliance and legal points to business leaders with varying degrees of sophistication.
  • Investigation and training experience with legal and compliance topics
  • Strong skills to draft reports and create engaging training presentations for various audiences.
  • Ability to assimilate new issues quickly and present legal scenarios in an understandable and accessible manner.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and Mandarin.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent team player and relationship builder. Ability to closely collaborate with business and functional managers.

Required Experience

  • Appropriate legal qualifications and solid compliance experience in China legal environment.
  • Minimum 5 years post qualification experience.
