Job Description

The Registry, in collaboration with Schools, and various academic and administrative departments, supports the development of academic regulations and policies, and ensures consistent and fair implementation of policies and regulations relating to study programmes. The Registry provides secretarial support to the Academic Board and its key boards and committees at institutional level and acts as an expert provider of fundamental Academy-wide services as follows.

  • Academic Services covering admission, course registration, student administration and records, student information, timetabling systems, and graduation.
  • Quality Assurance and Enhancement.
  • Secretariat Service and Policy Development.

The postholder assists the Registrar in ensuring effective delivery of the Registry’s functions to meet the strategic goals and operational needs of the Academy. The postholder is expected to handle multiple responsibilities, solve complex problems and oversee the daily operation of the Registry.

Applicants should have:
(a) A degree from a tertiary institution, or equivalent.
(b) Minimum of 10 years of solid work experience, including 5 years of management experience in registry functions at tertiary institutions or relevant organisations.
(c) Good understanding of the education system in Hong Kong.
(d) Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese, including Putonghua.
(e) Highly independent administrative leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and proven ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
(f) Strong organisational, pro-active problem-solving and project management skills.
(g) Good analytical and reflective skills as well as attributes of coping with ambiguity and change.
(h) Strong supervisory skills with appropriate delegation and management of functions and individual application of expertise.
(i) Understanding of international qualifications for student admission purpose, operational knowledge and hands-on experience in supervising the operation of student information and programme management system are advantages.

Those with lower qualification or less experience may be considered for appointment at a lower position.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
Appointment will be on a two-year contract with the possibility of renewal, subject to mutual agreement. A gratuity payment equal up to 15% of basic salary earned during the contract period will be payable upon satisfactory completion of contract. Fringe benefits include leave, medical, and dental benefits. Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
