Job Description
Tutors are required to teach 256 hours per semester, normally sixteen hours of EAP to science undergraduates per week. There are two semesters per year, typically lasting for sixteen weeks per semester. The semester beginning February 2022 will focus on writing and speaking skills to ensure students can study effectively in an English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI) environment. The role involves encouraging students to develop their reading of academic texts with a view to producing academic-style work. Tutors will typically be responsible for students from one or two sciences disciplines. Tutors are expected to fulfil all scheduled teaching duties during the academic semester.

Additional Responsibilities:
• Tutors are required to assess students and give feedback on draft written work, grade final submissions, and assess students’ presentation skills.
• Tutors are expected to formatively assess students and take a contingent approach to teaching and learning. This requires weekly planning meetings and designing tasks and lessons to meet the learning outcomes indicated in the syllabus.
• Tutors are required to attend weekly or fortnightly staff meetings and be open to formative classroom observation and appraisal from the senior AET and/or programme coordinators.
• Tutors are expected to fulfil other duties as assigned, which may include: record keeping (attendance, summative assessment, continuous assessment) office hours, training sessions, compliance with official administrative regulations, etc.
