Team Purpose
The Coaching Team at VIPKid is responsible for ensuring only teachers with the necessary teaching skills go on to become regular VIPKid teachers. As part of the recruitment and development stage of applying to VIPKid, applicants must complete Mock Classes in order to receive a Certification to teach on the platform. These Mock Classes are designed to simulate a real classroom environment and they offer a chance for teacher applicants to learn from one of VIPKid’s Mock Class Mentors. The Coaching Team works with Mock Class Mentors to guarantee their understanding of VIPKid’s teaching standards and to provide a helpful and positive experience with teacher applicants. The Coaching Team also works to provide continued growth opportunities for teachers once they have passed the Mock Class stage.
Job Description
The Coaching Team Teaching Specialist will assist in the process of Recruitment and Development by creating quality learning materials to help online mentors understand the company’s teaching standards. They will be responsible for being an expert on these standards and communicating them effectively to others. The ideal candidate has a solid background in teaching methodologies and excellent organizational skills, while also being willing to learn new skills and adapt easily.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Have a clear and accurate grasp of company evaluation rubrics and expectations of teacher quality in VIPKid.
2. Communicate with Mock Class Mentors on a daily basis. Address and respond to their concerns and issues in a timely manner.
3. Evaluate and discuss Mock Classes in order to create aligned standards and target areas of confusion.
4. Create materials and conduct workshops related to teaching quality and Mock Class standards.
5. Collaborate with other team members as well as other teams on joint projects targeted at maintaining / improving teacher quality.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree
2+ years’ experience working in the education field (teaching or administrative)
Teaching certificate in ESL (CELTA, TESOL, etc)
Excellent spoken and written English language skills
Proficient in Word, Excel, and Powerpoint and/or Google Suite
Strong presentation skills
Comfortable with using data to track projects and analyze results
Preferred
Prior online teaching experience
Experience working with Chinese K-12 students
Experience using video editing software (Adobe Premiere, Camtasia, etc.)
