The job:

We are looking for an ambitious Account Manager to join our UK Inside Sales team.

As Account Manager, you will sell a wide range of scientific products and services to our customers (such as scientists working in hospital and research labs). Using your in-depth scientific knowledge you will increase sales and win new business from current and prospective customers.

You will manage your own panel of customer accounts, building strong customer relationships over the phone and by email, driving sales over time. You will also have opportunity to meet with your customers in person, so some travel (both UK and international) may be required. You will employ a consultative selling approach to fully understand the customer’s specialist requirements and provide the most appropriate and innovative solutions from the Thermo Fisher product portfolio.

We are happy to offer this role as fully remote (working from home), based anywhere in Scotland, England or Wales. Or, if preferred, you could be office-based at our Loughborough site. As such, we have advertised the role in a number of locations across the UK.

What will you do?

  • Use telephone selling skills to connect with the customer, determine needs and provide solutions through the use of our products and services, creating the value proposition and closing the deal
  • Prospect and develop relationships with new customers through outbound telephone calls to all organizational levels and functional areas where purchasing decisions are made
  • Develop on-going customer relationships with a focus on up-selling and cross-selling
  • Drive specific product sales; promote core products and value added services; introduce new products & services
  • Develop and execute sales strategies and plans to expand business within assigned territory; maintain a pipeline of opportunities to meet or exceed sales objectives
  • Research competitor and industry activity and keep informed of new products/services and other general information of interest to customers, incorporating this data into the business plan

Who we are looking for:

  • BSc (or higher) in a Life Sciences subject, ideally Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or similar
  • Some lab experience and familiarity with general laboratory equipment, consumables and chemicals
  • Telephone sales experience preferred, but any telephone-based, customer-facing or general target-driven sales experience of interest
  • Ambitious and sales-driven attitude, with genuine desire to work in a sales role
  • Exceptional communicator with ability to build rapport and influence at all levels
  • Driving licence
  • Willing and able to travel up to 20% per month
  • Fluent in English
