The job:
We are looking for an ambitious Account Manager based in the north of Norway to join our sales team. As Account Manager, you will sell a wide range of laboratory equipment, consumables, chemicals, safety products/PPE and services to our customers engaged in research and development within universities and hospitals, as well as pharma, industrial and biotech companies.
You will maintain effective customer relations, developing opportunities for growth within the existing customer base, while identifying and growing new business opportunities to achieve your sales and profit targets.
The defined sales territory for this role covers from Bergen to Tromsø and you will be required to travel within this territory up to 3 days per week on average, with fairly frequent overnight stays. When not travelling, you will be able to work from home. Ideally, you will be based in Bergen, Trondheim or the surrounding areas.
The role sits within our Research and Safety Market Division (RSD), branded as Fisher Scientific, which markets and sells a vast portfolio of laboratory products and services. RSD’s portfolio represents the product lines of Thermo Fisher Scientific and thousands of supplier/manufacturers in the laboratory space and includes Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Academic, Industrial and Government institutions that maintain scientific laboratories and engage in scientific research.
What will you do?
- Work to drive sales, support supplier partnerships and actively promote core products and value added services
- Maintain effective customer relationships, satisfy customer requirements and assure continued market penetration and profitability by making in depth calls to end user and purchasing contacts
- Use communication and influencing skills to effectively utilize internal resources and maximize selling time
- Achieve or exceed sales and margin targets for your designated territory
- Develop and execute a strategic and tactical sales plan for your specified territory to ensure revenue and gross margin objectives are met
- Manage pricing within territory to optimize profitability
- Establish relationships with key suppliers and negotiate improved terms
- Leverage SalesForce.com to develop the territory pipeline and optimize territory coverage
- Maintain a high level of business knowledge specific to your territory including product portfolio, competitor activity and sales positioning
Who we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Life Science, or equivalent work experience
- Demonstrable sales experience, preferably in the research laboratory industry, particularly where there is a sound understanding of the current marketplace for laboratory equipment, consumables and/or chemicals
- Sales mindset and strongly target-driven, with genuine desire to work in a sales role
- Strong industry, pharmaceutical and science background preferred
- Confident personality, strong communication and presentation skills, able to engage with and influence a wide variety of contacts in a range of settings
- Good overall IT skills; familiarity with a CRM such as Salesforce.com would be an advantage
- Organised and good multi-tasker, able to manage and meet multiple competing deadlines
- Driving License
- Willing to travel extensively on a weekly basis, including overnights
- Fluent in English
