Job Description

The job:

The Account Manager, OEM Lab Consumables is responsible for sales and promotional activity of our Laboratory Consumables products to current and potential Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) customers within the Nordics region. These are customers – such as diagnostic kit manufacturers – who use our lab consumables products to manufacture their own end products.

While you will manage several large pre-existing customers, this role will be mainly focused on sourcing and winning new customers. As such, you must be a sales “hunter” in mindset and strongly motivated by targets. A background in Business Development within the Life Science sector is ideal for this role. Other typical activities include conducting sales meetings with customers, day-to-day selling of products, field training of distributor sales personnel, and conveying the sales policies and marketing/promotional programs of the various marketing support organizations.

This is a field-based position which will cover all of the Nordic countries, with a particular focus on Sweden and Finland. As such, we are happy to consider suitably qualified candidates based in any of the Nordic countries (Sweden, Finland, Norway & Denmark) providing you are happy to travel extensively on a weekly basis. You will spend on average 3 to 4 days per week travelling to meet with customers throughout your territory and will be able to spend the remainder of your time working from home.

What will you do?

  • Increase the sales volume of assigned accounts within the territory
  • Understand your customers’ goals and objectives and utilize this to successfully sell the most appropriate products to them from the Thermo Fisher product portfolio
  • Proactively seek new customers and new applications and uses for the OEM consumables products
  • Manage all logistics associated with completing a successful final product installation and customer training
  • Complete after sale follow-up with the customer to ensure satisfaction with our product performance; coordinate service assistance as required
  • Manage contract renewals, supplier agreements, price strategies, quality agreements and commercial initiatives to drive growth in territory
  • Remain alert to and report competitor products; analyze sales trends and sales practices; help develop contingency plans to offset competitor programs
  • Remain aware of local market conditions, industry trends, user preferences, and promptly report these with recommended action
  • Support and facilitate market research into key market and pricing trends and evolving customer requirements
  • Conduct technical seminars on a regular basis
  • Provide routine feedback related to technology and customer needs to support new product development

Who we are looking for:

  • Degree in a Life Science preferred (but not essential)
  • Several years’ sales experience in the Life Science, Healthcare or Laboratory Products markets
  • Post-graduation work experience in a life science laboratory (as a Scientist, Lab Technician or similar) an advantage
  • A sales “hunter”, strongly motivated by targets and able to influence and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a track record of opening doors and developing new business
  • Proficient in building collaborative relationships across different teams and functions
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to draw conclusions and observations from market trends
  • Driving licence
  • Fluent in English, Nordic languages a plus
  • Willingness to travel extensively on a weekly basis
