Job Title: Account Manager South
Report to: Territory Manager Automotive Greater China
Business Unit: DSM Engineering Plastic
Location: Guangzhou
The Challenge:
  • To identify, develop and commercialize new business typically via multiplication of successful existing or new developed applications at new (and existing) customers in South China.
  • Matrix organization.
  • Product line/segment.
  • Maximize successful projects by screening potentials upfront.
  • Identify stakeholders in value chain and convince them about our value proposal
  • Prioritize resources.
The Position:
  • The primary function of this role is to implement Automotive, DEP sales & marketing strategy in new business development and customers’ management in South China by initiating contacts with existing and potential customers, particularly focus on Chang’an and Chang’an Ford and their Tiers.
  • Responsible for leveraging and coordinating GTS efforts for the projects development.
  • Responsible for positioning new value proposals at his/her target accounts for Commercial development of new value proposals and for communicating value proposals to the market.
  • Accountable for initiating development agreements with customers in the case the DEP investment is valued <10k otherwise responsible to communicate business case to the PM/Territory Manager for approval.
  • Responsible for putting projects in the PTO tool handled by GTS.
  • Develop and maintain networks at adequate levels in the value chain, within customer’s organizations and Research, focusing on engineering and technology.
  • Responsible to communicate towards the customer and product manager the commercial request/availability dates and market needs wrt new application developments as input to the marketing plan.
  • Responsible for collecting market information and communicating current and emerging needs for current and new accounts within the segment and region to drive value proposal development.
The Ideal:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering-related field.
  • Minimum 10 years’ relevant B2B experience in the field of business development (option)
  • Creative and pioneering experience
  • Analytical skills
  • Relation builder (good social skills), net worker
  • Structured worker with project experience
  • A strong negotiator who can identify customers’ needs and persuasive in presenting ideas
  • Knowledge of business & process within his segment
  • Broad view on industry and markets, in-depth know-how about products and/or applications.
  • Balance of commercial and technical know-how, skills and experience.
  • Excellent communication, language and social skills
  • International working experience
