The Accountant’s main role is to reconcile preassigned General Ledger accounts and oversee all functionalities of Accounts Payable. The Accountant will reconcile the A/P Subledger system to the General ledger and manage all intercompany accounts within BMW Subsidiaries. The Accountant will also be responsible for reviewing, coding and processing all invoices for BMW Group Canada.
- Oversees payments and controls expenses by verifying and reconciling key invoices.
- Updates and reconciles Accounts Payable Sub-ledger to general ledger.
- Process weekly ACH/Cheque/Retailer/Intercompany payment runs.
- Review and update A/P and other related accounting policies, process maps and ICS documents.
- Accurately review, code, process invoices in a timely manner in accordance with company policies and IFRS standards.
- Correspond to all departmental and vendor related A/P inquiries, while maintaining a positive relationship with all vendors.
- Drives process improvements within both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
- Manage the prepaids and accrual process, while assisting department requests.
- Manage Key Provision Accounts (e.g. Vehicle transport costs).
- Prepare key analysis with focus on key direct and fixed costs GL accounts.
- Oversee journal entries and trial balance for Experience Centre.
- Ensure monthly closing activities including reconciliations and journal entries are in compliance with IFRS standards and deadlines.
- Prepare financial documentation and reconciliation for internal/external audits.
- Assist with and backup for Accounts Receivable.
- University Degree in Commerce or Business Administration (Accounting/Finance preferred).
- 1-2 years’ experience within an Accounting Department.
- Knowledge and experience with SAP.
- Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable knowledge an asset.
- Ability to remain organized while effectively having colleagues deliver requests by key deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
