Job Description
Position: Accounting Manager
Department: Finance
Purpose: To manage the daily functions of the accounting office from Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Income Audit, Internal Controls, Month end close, and support the Director of Finance in providing financial leadership to the Hotel.
Reports to: Director of Finance
Essential Functions:
- Assist in preparation and completion of monthly financial reporting
- Conduct and prepare month end standard journal entries with all supporting documents and ensure a timely month-end close.
- Prepare and input Bi-Weekly payroll journal and EOM accrual.
- Conduct Spot checks on all inventory accounts (F&B, Linen, Uniforms, Guest Supplies, Etc…)
- Reconcile and prepare specified balance sheet accounts (Guest Ledger, City Ledger, Prepaid, Inventories, Accrued Expenses, Service Charges, Advance Deposits, Etc….)
- Conduct monthly credit meetings and oversee hotel's credit and collection function.
- Communicate to DOF and Management all unusual operations or financial occurrences and significant deviations.
- Assist in providing financial leadership to ensure controls are in place to safeguard company assets.
- Preparation of the Sales, Occupancy, Use, and Parking Taxes monthly and ensure compliance with local government reporting.
- Support all operational departments of hotel to ensure financial policies and procedure are adhere to.
- Cover for accounting positions amidst vacation, call offs, turnover Etc…
- Involved in Hiring, Training and Developing present and future accounting staff.
- Attended all necessary meetings such as leadership, Precons, BEO, and Resume.
Tools and Equipment:
- Use of Opera (PMS), Micros, Sun. Word, ADP
- Use of telephone system.
- Use of department paging/radio communication system
Working environment:
- Sitting, walking, standing, bending, writing, typing, filing
- Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
