Job Description
The Accounting Manager is responsible for the full finance and accounting cycle for the CTD Beijing China site. This role manages & oversees accounting processes, including AR, AP, Fixed Assets, and Intercompany, as well as ensures financial statement accuracy & compliance with accounting policies & GAAP controls. This role also includes financial reporting and FP&A support in terms of forecasting and process improvement. An integral part of the Clinical Trials finance team, this position will collaborate with the Finance Manager, other site managers, and various division and corporate teams on solutions to accomplish multiple financial related tasks.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage a team of 1-2 direct reports
- Responsible for monthly, quarterly and year-end accounting close activities, including transactions reviews and journal entries as needed
- Provides relevant data, analysis and fact-based recommendations
- Review monthly financial reports, including balance sheets and income statements to ensure accuracy
- Review balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy & compliance
- Ensure the consistent implementation of the Company’s accounting policies throughout the business, with particular attention to areas requiring judgement and estimation.
- GAAP and local statutory compliance and on-going support, including coordination with internal & external audit
- Provide support to FP&A on forecasting and other adhoc requests and processes
- Identify and document improvement opportunities, creating guidelines and directives; identify potential improvement based on best practices and knowledge of internal/external business challenges
- Interact with all other departments, while ensuring that Accounting and Finance best practices are being leveraged
- Support site-specific, local government incentive programs, as well as ensure accuracy & compliance in all required reporting
- PRC book review and reconciliation, monitor the booking of outsourced agency, control monthly closing of PRC book and tax filing for various local taxes including VAT, CIT, Surcharge, Stamp Duty, taxation issue / local authority regulation reports handling
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Outstanding accounting & related process/systems knowledge
- Strong business acumen and judgement
- Ability to influence management within the business area
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (both written and verbal) and presentation skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a matrix environment and capable of gaining commitment and coordinate action for initiatives
- Ability to have effective working relationships across the company at both the site and corporate level

- Strong organization skills and ability to prioritize workload

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, certification preferred where applicable
- More than >5 years in accounting/controlling/business finance positions with demonstrated success
- Strong knowledge of accounting regulations and company accounting policies and practices, and unquestioned integrity in the application of such standards
- Hyperion experience is a plus
- Relevant experience in pharmaceutical industry preferred but not required
- Advanced desktop application experience Microsoft Power point, Excel, Word, and Access
- Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley and statutory reporting requirements
- English language required
- Chinese language required
