Detailed Description:
Incumbents may determine best methods and procedures to follow to complete assignments. Tasks are complex in nature where judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations. Decisions/actions may have an impact on the department’s goals and may go beyond the department. Works under minimum supervision. Situations not covered by standard processes, procedures and methods are referred to manager or expert resource. May provide functional guidance to others performing similar work. May be considered the expert in areas assigned. Builds internal and external relationships that require exchanging information and providing some explanations in a problem solving capacity.

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

Generates and analyzes control reports to ensure invoice accuracy and to avoid duplicate payments. Follows up to ensure that all anomolies and errors are actioned before payment occurs. Prepares training and education material for accounts payable team. Updates policies and procedures manual. Trains new staff and reviews errors with the team to avoid repeat problems. Communicates training issues and concerns to team leaders. Escalates appropriately and suggests improvements. Takes independent action to gather ideas and gain consensus with cross-functional teams on process improvement. Actively participates in team discussion. Shares ideas, knowledge and skills. Treats all team members fairly. Evaluates alternatives based on pros/cons. Provides input on how to manage required changes. Leads by example, is accountable for own actions.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:
  • Knowledge of computer applications and the ability to learn and use applications specific to this department. Can run reports/queries.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy and working under tight time deadlines.
  • Ability to evaluate, prioritize and problem solve a variety of tasks to ensure their timely and accurate completion.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
  • Ability to efficiently organize, file and retrieve hard copy and electronic information relating to the business of the work unit.
  • Understands general ledger
  • Ability to understand first principles accounting concepts
  • Basic understanding of forecasting and planning
  • Awareness of CLS Key Metrics (EBIAT, Material Revenue %, GP%, SG&A%, ROIC, cash cycle, DSO, aging)
  • Understands inter-relationships between departments
  • Ability to analyze and understand reports to highlight inconsistencies and anomalies
    Physical Demands:
  • Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data
  • Repetitive manual movements are frequently required (e.g. data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc)
    Typical Experience:
    Two to four years of relevant experience
    Typical Education:
    Two or three year community college diploma in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    Education experience may vary by geography.
