Abbott is seeking an Accounts Payable Supervisor to lead the day-to-day operations of payment processing and reporting for North America. This is a hands-on leadership role within Corporate Finance Services and the ideal candidate must be passionate about developing high performing, customer- centric teams and working with stakeholders and internal customers to quickly resolve issues.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

 •Manage payment disbursements, overseeing the processing of daily payment batches, payment exception handling, direct deposits, and returned checks.

•Manage freight payables, overseeing the relationship between Abbott and third-party freight carriers, ensuring correct billing and timely payment remittance.

•Work closely with stakeholders, corporate functions, and vendors to continuously improve Procure-to-Pay processing (end-to-end).

•Utilizing continuous improvement methodologies, offer solutions to resolve payment and freight related disputes and implement corrective actions.

•Manage the annual Form 1099 reporting and distribution process.  Verifying and correcting supplier and Board of Director data to ensure the accuracy of the internal and external reports, in compliance with Internal Revenue Service (IRS) guidelines.

•Develop, implement, and monitor daily performance metrics and reporting.

•Analyze and remediate complex payment issues in response to supplier and/or business unit inquiries.

•Perform monthly and annual reconciliations, understand and resolve accounting postings as needed.

•First line management contact to divisions, banking partners, and freight carriers; subject matter expert for payments and freight.

•Leads projects and initiatives; streamline processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Procure-to-Pay process.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

•Maintain a cohesive, customer-centric team to process and analyze payment activity timely and accurately.

•Support core responsibilities of the team by gaining working understanding of day-to-day tasks and provide back-up coverage as needed.

•Develop talent within the finance organization; connect individual goals to business objectives and help team members excel in their role

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or other business-related field required.

  • 5+ years business experience in accounting or procurement, including exposure to

  • Experience with freight payables.

  • Experience deploying and leading shared services “back office” environments.

Preferred

  • Experience driving continuous improvement efforts within a team and with partners; ideally experienced in Lean/Six Sigma.
