The Opportunity at AIA
The purpose of this role is to provide quality actuarial support to the business. This may be in one or more areas including financial and statistical reporting, data analysis, pricing and product development, product management, marketing and software testing. By performing these tasks the Actuarial Analyst contributes to the profitability and effectiveness of the business in the attainment of its objectives.Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support to actuarial model and data development while developing knowledge and technical skills.
- Additional support might be required across other areas of actuarial work, including:
- experience investigations;
- premium rating;
- valuations;
- financial and regulatory reporting; Vatsal Gomber,
- investments;
- reinsurance;
- finance;
- solvency and capital management;
- system changes and conversions; and
- other broad business initiatives (as required)
- Keep the manager(-s) and other key stakeholders up to date regarding work progress
- Develop and use software skills including AIA systems, SQL, MS Office package, Prophet, Glean, DCS and R
- Extract, reconcile, manipulate and analyse data and produce draft insights and results for senior analysts and actuaries
- Maintain existing tools, models, systems, processes and documentation and proactively contribute to their improvement and development
- Learn to communicate and present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audience
- Learn and understand AIA commercial environment (including its products, markets and competitors) and the role of his/her team and other teams within AIA.
- Learn, understand and adhere to AIA's risk management framework and the relevant policies
- Identify and raise awareness of risk management issues
- Assist in investigation of incidents; and
- Assist in testing of controls and conducting model validations
- Regularly sit actuarial exams while maintaining an “approved student” status in accordance with the Actuarial Study conditions
- Performs other responsibilities and duties periodically assigned by supervisor in order to meet reasonable operational and/or other requirements
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong technical skills including software skills (e.g. MS Office package) and analytical skills
- Ability to learn new concepts, e.g. business rules, regulatory and professional standards, mathematical theories, modelling techniques, software packages etc.
- Self-motivated
- Strong self and time management skills
- Good communication skills, both written and oral
- Ability to think and work independently
Role Related Experience
- Financial Services Industry experience desired
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification with quantitative background (e.g. mathematics, statistics or engineering)
