Job Description

This is a co-op position which requires three alternating rotations (e. g. 1st rotation: spring, 2nd rotation: fall, 3rd rotation: summer).

  • The co-op implements improvements and changes while successfully ensuring minimal interruption to Paint Shop operations, enabling volume and quality targets to be maintained and/or achieved.

The qualified co-op should expect to contribute & improve in the following functions:

  • Assists with continuous improvement activities throughout Paint Shop
  • Organizes and develops teams to perform root cause analysis of complex technical problems within Paint Shop
  • Evaluates Key Performance Indicators throughout Paint Shop
  • Participates in Shop Floor Management activities to improve efficiency/ quality in Paint Shop
  • Aides in data visualizations/ dashboard creation for all levels of management in Paint Shop
  • Evaluates processes and provides feedback to improve efficiency/ quality in Paint shop
  • Maintains of Value Stream Maps for all areas in Paint
  • Audits Shop Floor Management Boards and other Shop Floor Management standards
  • Creates of Bi-Weekly reports sent to management
  • Understands and models VPS (Value added Production System) Principles
  • Adheres to 5S and Safety Standards and principles
  • New Paint Line KPI integration
  • Value Stream Mapping creation for departments in Paint Shop
  • Integration of BMW wide Shop Floor Management Dashboard
  • New Paint Line Electronic Board Creation

  • BA/BS Degree, Industrial Engineering (preferred) or similar engineering degree
  • Must have the ability to pay attention to details.
  • Ability to work within a team environment. (Teamplayer)
  • Ability to multitask within a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate to multiple levels of management.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have excellent Microsoft Products skills, Preferred: Microsoft Excel VBA, PowerBI, Minitab
  • Strong understanding of MS Excel PowerQuery. (preferred)
  • Computer programming skills such as, the ability to create intermediate to advanced calculations using functions such as Calculate, Summarize and Filter. Experience in PowerBI, QlikSense and/or Tableau (preferred)
  • Possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (not just in major).
  • Have full-time status at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States.
  • Completed at least 30 credit hours at time of application.
  • Ability to complete 3 alternating work terms for Co-op positions. 
  • Ability to work full-time (40 hours / week).
  • Transfer students must have a GPA from current university.
  • MUST ATTACH A COPY OF UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT. 
  • Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term.  
  • THE WORK TERM DATES ARE (January 3, 2022 - May 6, 2022)
