The role
We are currently looking to recruit an Administration Assistant to join our team in Precision Medicine and Biosamples (PMB), based at our Melbourn Science Park offices. The Precision Medicine and Biosamples function work across the Oncology and BioPharmaceutical portfolio, with accountability for the development and regulatory approval of diagnostic tests as well as management of all AstraZeneca samples globally.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
As a key member of the Administration Team, you’ll be using your excellent organisational skills to enable our talented scientists and diagnostic experts to focus on science to deliver medicines to patients.
This is an exciting opportunity to take on a varied role within a team of 6, reporting into the PMB Administration Team Lead. Your focus will be on supporting PMBs onboarding & training lead as well as providing high quality and professional administration support across the department. You’ll become an expert user in key business systems and tools, and provide a professional point of contact for our colleagues.
Activities include:
Working alongside the PMB onboarding and training lead to:
- Create tailored onboarding profiles in our custom onboarding portal (MS Teams)
- Complete onboarding tasks in a timely manner
- Welcome new hires and deliver portal training
- Stay connected with new hires throughout their onboarding journey
- Co-host the new starters bi-weekly networking meeting
- Maintenance of onboarding information
- Support the continual development of the onboarding portal
- Support monthly PMB SABA meetings inc. agenda call, minutes and action tracking
- Assist with the development of department learning plans in SABA
- Ad-hoc training requests e.g. adding SOPS/ trainings to PMB SABA profiles
- Triage of the central PMB admin mailbox
- Coordinating internal and external meetings
- Arranging complex business travel and expense reporting for senior members of the PMB team
- Supporting PMB-wide projects and events such as Town Halls
Essential requirements
- a proven successful track record operating as an Administrator
- A professional and proactive approach, with the ability to manage a diverse workload
- Good organisational, forward-planning skills, with attention to detail
- Ability to work as part of a team and flexibly to adapt to changing situations
- Be collaborative and effectively build networks
- Good customer service skills
- Effective verbal and written communication
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, specifically MS teams and Outlook

- Influencing skills with ability to engage with people
- Champion of efficient and effective processes
