This position is in BorgWarner’s Corporate Advanced Engineering group. This is a dynamic team environment that combines the best aspects of both research and production organizations. The Advanced Engineering department houses multiple disciplines including systems design, vehicle optimization, simulation and advanced controls. The team is involved in all forms of propulsion including electric, hybrid and combustion and fosters an environment of teamwork and innovation that positively impacts the automotive industry.
The Propulsion Systems Engineer is charged with supporting the design, analysis, optimization and testing of advanced vehicle systems. The work will include various combinations of system level modeling, simulation development or usage of vehicle simulations, algorithm development, software coding, testing and validation of control strategies for propulsion systems. This position may include customer interaction, both with internal and external customers and directing the implementation of vehicle system modifications (mechanical, electrical, control).

• Support vehicle system design especially related to electrical and control related areas

• Develop algorithms, software, and models for evaluation of the control strategies for new propulsion system concepts.

• Support system level optimization through calibration and software modification on vehicles.

• Develop and execute system level tests on test beds and vehicles to verify performance.

• Create technical reports detailing the results of analysis and testing

• Make presentations to management reporting on status, progress, issues and technical accomplishments

Requirements

• Master’s degree (or working towards a degree) in Mechanical, Systems or Electrical engineering is required.

• Professional experience with vehicle propulsion systems and controls approaches and toolsets

• Real-time embedded programming experience required

• Chinese and English language skills necessary
