SUMMARY

  • Albemarle (ALB) is investing for future battery technologies. This global Advanced Lithium Metals Product Manager role will work extensively with existing products and next generation product development.
  • This role will coordinate commercial activities with R&D and New Business Development (NBD) innovations within existing and new commercial assets.
  • The market for Advanced Lithium Metals is developing quickly from its current size.  This role will have a significant focus on future technology, requiring extensive Customer interaction and technological discovery.
  • Identify the right customers with clear priority to validate the value proposition and future potentials of our new technology solutions to help business to develop the business cases and manage milestones of the projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate extensively with NBD to validate the market potential and business cases.
  • Lead commercial activities around the future of Advanced Lithium Metals commercialization and asset expansions in conjunction with other functional groups.
  • Implement customer segmentation business support metrics (price, lead time, etc.).
  • Identify and prioritize the key potential customers for future differentiated technologies/NBD projects.
  • Identify the value proposition of the new technologies and develop business cases in support of the NBD team.
  • Clearly understand future value chain of the new technologies.
  • Investigate and identify new unmet needs from key players in the market and communicate with key stake holders internally for future new projects discussion. 
  • Understand and communicate competitive dynamics to key stake holders.
  • Own and develop qualification strategy with the goal of being able to create differentiation in this area vs our competitors.
  • Provide commercial input on future Advanced Lithium Metals NBD projects.
  • Develop and manage our Advanced Lithium Metals asset / customer level product allocation.
  • Continuous Improvement of the business quality/performance through leading and influencing cross-functional teams across GBU & corporate functions that drive those business-critical projects and initiatives.
  • Lead efforts to drive quality improvement among the Advanced Lithium Metals facilities.
  • Develop a strategy to drive customer experience improvements in areas such as VOC surveys to ultimately reduce quality claim rates.
  • Strategy development and execution through primary & secondary research of markets/customers, and working with other functional stakeholders in ALB.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Chemistry, Engineering or Finance from an accredited university is required. 
  • 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing, business planning, business management, new business development, sales & marketing, or corporate strategy is required; global commercial experience desired.
  • Experience in an industry related to the EV supply chain and sound understanding of the global lithium industry is a plus, but not mandatory.
  • This role requires commercial expertise and experience to understand business-critical requirements, identifying key factors for success, and to figure out both long term and short-term solutions.
  • Ability to travel both domestic and internationally.
  • Demonstrated leadership track record including exercising sound judgment, effective cross-functional collaboration, and successful multiparty communications to align diverse stakeholders toward a common goal.
  • Demonstrated experience bringing together multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders to successfully drive projects and change.
  • Strong analytical skills are a positive. Candidates should be detail-oriented and possess ability to interpret data/analysis and intuitively identify/troubleshoot gaps in quantitative analysis.
  • Results orientation – has ability to instill a sense of pace and urgency.
