Eaton’s Aerospace division is currently seeking an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer Mgr to join our team. This position is based at our Tijuana facility. The Advanced Manufacturing Engineer Mgr is responsible for support for multiple manufacturing sites globally including centralized capital procurement and selection of next generation processes and technology. This role requires investigation and analysis of production methods, and/or capital equipment requirements to increase production efficiency and reduce production costs, which might involve modification of production methods or creation of new manufacturing processes. Manage capital spending for the ITDNA group to better leverage scale economies, standardization, and efficiency. Work closely with the capital procurement organization and other function to ensure seamless operation of our new capital procurement model and efficiency improvements. The Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Manager will be responsible for industrialization of new product development for ITD North America as well as developing and managing a process to optimize current manufacturing process and capabilities. In addition to the global engineering responsibilities, this role will have direct responsibility to optimize and industrialize the machining processes in the Tijuana MX facility. This includes but is not limited to software, machinery, and technical team development. Some activities related with the position will be: Work closely with Plant Managers and Manufacturing Engineering Leads to facilitate early engagement with new product development (NPD) programs; understand capital needs and recommend proactive solutions to ensure rate readiness for growth. Ensure manufacturability and design to cost in addition to other metrics established within the business case by guiding teams on both current and future equipment /tooling technologies. Leadership and management of capital projects and related purchasing activities to ensure robust technical solutions. This includes updates to and development of Capital Appropriation Requests (CARs) and other documentation to evaluate, justify and support capital acquisitions. Utilize Eaton’s processes for procuring and proving out capital equipment and tooling. Recommend equipment suppliers and ensure standardization to preferred suppliers. Support manufacturing sites to improve On Time Delivery, Quality and First Pass Yield with the latest tooling and technology available or foreseen in the near future. Provide input and support equipment/tooling payback and financial justification review process to improve performance metrics and productivity. Deliver cost out initiatives by improving manufacturing processes including equipment technologies/capabilities. Work with plants to recommend and develop new manufacturing processes. Support best practice sharing and realization of synergies in manufacturing plants through Manufacturing Council (Manufacturing Engineers & Ops Managers) participation and leadership of capital procurement. Support capacity analysis (short and long term) including constraint analysis, capital requirements (equipment, tooling, plant infrastructure) and staffing/training plans. Review and evaluate new product designs through direct interfacing with multiple functions including Product Engineering. Recommend changes to facilitate manufacturing improvements and to leverage new technology. Write equipment and tooling specifications including runoff criteria, quality, safety and facility requirements for new equipment. Review Capital Appropriation Requests (CARs). Support development and execution of overall manufacturing strategy that supports the business strategy. Understand and provide input to the 5-year capital strategies for all manufacturing locations. Technically evaluate equipment suppliers. Assist in negotiations from a technical perspective. Validate and ensure supplier accountability, quality and compliance to specifications. Ensure appropriate asset tracking. Seek opportunity for technological advancements in manufacturing and inform and facilitate plant evaluation of these. Identify and manage risks related to capital required for both NPD and Standard Transition Process programs. Ensure that schedule, budget, and cost targets are met. Support capital programs activity to meet spending budgets and completion to schedule. Provide periodic reporting results to higher management. #LI-AP01 Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required. Engineering or technical degree preferred. Minimum of 10 years related professional experience Must be legally authorized to work in MX without company sponsorship Preferred Qualifications: Automation experience with low volume, high mix products with the ability to determine how best to apply to Aerospace products. Robotics experience to improve ergonomics, safety, and quality. Experience with digital factories/Manufacturing Execution Systems and tying people to machines Understanding of manufacturing processes such as electronics assembly, metal forming, welding, castings, CNC machining, product inspection, secondary process knowledge, etc. Subject Matter expertise in any of the following areas would be a plus – additive manufacturing, machining, metal forming, welding, product acceptance testing, mechanical assembly and/or electronics assembly. Expertise in the areas of quality, lean, six sigma preferred Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes such as metal forming, welding, machining, electronics assembly, mechanical assembly, and production testing Position Success Criteria: At least 10 years previous experience in Manufacturing Engineering or Advanced Manufacturing Engineering. Strong ethics, values, and the ability to influence others’ decision making. Ability to manage multiple projects/activities; results driven. Process oriented and an ability to identify and drive continuous improvement results Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
