Job Overview
Operator of a high end engine performance test cell in the Daimler-Detroit Diesel Powertrain Engineering Laboratory with the overall goal of producing high quality data while keeping utilization on target.  Duties of a performance test cell operator encompass a wide range of responsibilities including mechanical work (setting up, repair, etc. of performance test engines), executing tests from instructions given by engineers, and monitoring and troubleshooting failures that occur during the course of testing.  This position requires the individual to develop and maintain good interpersonal skills, as interfacing with other technicians and engineering personnel is required. Additionally, this position may at times require communication with outside vendors and collaboration within the global Daimler AG engineering organization
  
 
Responsibilities
- Operate a performance test cell.

- Ability to work with minimum direct supervision.

- Perform tests/testing as described by engineers.

- Methodically troubleshoot and identify problems occurring during testing. 

- Maintain and make repairs to the test engine.

- Perform modifications to test equipment and test engines as needed.

- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

- Fabrication of custom set up parts or engineering parts as needed.

- Administrative ability to maintain and document current projects and historical records.  Process purchase requisitions.

 
SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Implement company and department quality goals

- Assist the test facility management in maintaining a clean and safe work area.

- Assist test facilities personnel and customers in resolving testing and measurement problems.

 

High school diploma (or equivalent) required
An attached resume is required
 
REQUIRED
- A two-year associates degree in technical field.

- Knowledge of diesel engines and testing

- Strong knowledge of test cell, and auxiliary equipment data acquisition systems.

- Computer skills (MS Office), SharePoint, Salesforce, E-mail (MS Outlook).

- Mechanical and fabrication skills

- Effective organizational and follow-up skills.

- Good communication skills (Cell Phone, Text, E-mail).
