Introduction

italki is a growing language education startup, that is focused on the human side of language learning. We are looking for a talented agile scrum master to lead our development teams in adopting agile methodologies.

At italki, you will work with product managers, web developers and designers in a diverse and rapidly changing environment. This role will require amazing interpersonal skills, leadership skills (knowing how to manage by influence), communication skills, and great process judgment.

The position is based in Shanghai, China. Candidates not based in China or not able to relocate to Shanghai, China need not apply.

Responsibilities

- Be a “servant-leader” as you guide and mentor people, without managing them
- Coach our development teams to apply Agile principles including stand-ups, grooming, planning, retrospectives
- Collaborate with everyone involved (product managers, product owners, designers, developers, engineers, etc.), helping individuals and teams to become AGILE
- Reduce distractions, noise and any interruptions across teams
- Help to grow and facilitate already highly motivated and capable teams to deliver innovative software products
- Work with your teams, and wider teams / stakeholders to ensure successful product delivery
- Be able to maneuver change easily, helping teams to adopt the same pattern
- Be able to put people first and are an open and honest communicator
- Be confident and are effective at decision-making, working to maintain options and solutions for everyone
- Be energetic and are able to be a champion across teams

Requirements

- Have experience of working within a Scrum / Agile Coach capacity
- Have some background working within software; coding knowledge is not required but is a plus
- Ideally will be Scrum certified with knowledge of development practices
