Job Description

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Agronomic Solutions Manager I, are to: 

 

  • Identify and propose new and novel projects and has responsibility for the promotion of new compounds to a pre-project (phase 1.2) and directs the field development of new active ingredients, core formulations as well as new global formulations until phase 4 and acquisition products;
  • Be responsible and accountable for defining the (preliminary) core use pattern and product concepts by the end of phase 2 to achieve the development decision in the shortest possible time to optimize the value (NPV) of the project for Bayer CropScience;
  • Lead, with support of Weed Management Head, the technical strategy to define the final use pattern which is jointly aligned with Crop Technology Experts, SBM, Global Development Functions, regions and countries, simultaneously for several discovery and/or life cycle management products;
  • Lead the consolidation and final recommendation of all main biological global data by region (including unique / key selling propositions) and issues a global technical profile and technical use recommendation allowing local teams to adapt the product according to each global market condition for multiple product and or product concepts;
  • Have global responsibility to understand each of the global market segments, needed to support each region/country organizations and be the leading technical expert by addressing issues and questions to assist the development of product and crop strategies;
  • Be responsible for building a testing program and advancement recommendation that includes a multifaceted system testing program to include early to late phase Biotechnology traits, Breeding germplasm, formulation development, and Digital Ag tools by region;
  • Work cross-functionally to successfully address future grower’s needs and identify cutting edge technology to ensure commercial success of new products;
  • Work in close contact with other global functions such as Crop Strategy Teams, Strategy & Business Management and Global Regulatory Affairs as well as to key country organizations (Crop Technical Leads, Trial Managers, Regional & Country ASM) being connected to the world-wide field testing network of AS;
  • Drive in close collaboration with the Weed Management Lead, the development the product portfolio in key countries and key crops and  contributes to the development of life-cycle management strategies and sustainable crop solutions;
  • Be the key strategic member for multiple core Asset Team and/or Project teams to develop and advise overall planning of programs, registration, and marketing strategies globally;
  • Be responsible to identify innovative paths to improve the IP landscape needed to secure freedom to operate, preserve business strategies and maintain competitive advantages;
  • Develop a basic understanding of the economics of all crops he/she is working in, to be able to design and create novel and innovative field testing programs to assess and advance products;
  • Elaborate the IWM strategy to support the Global recommendations to the country organizations;
  • Be responsible for pressure testing the status quo and ensuring each global testing program is conducted to minimize testing resources while maximizing data quality and quantity by phase to make critical business decisions and expedite the pipeline;
  • Be responsible for defining the necessary field trial capacities for his/her projects and the optimal use of the allocated resources, which have to be agreed by the Weed Management Head.

Required Qualifications:

  

  • Ph.D. in agriculture science or related biological science with 6 years of relevant experience OR a M.S. degree in agriculture science or related biological science with 10 years of relevant experience OR B.S. degree in agriculture science or related biological science with 12 years of experience;
  • Ability to independently identify, lead and complete initiatives and  projects;
  • Basic understanding of highly competitive markets worldwide with their rapidly changing technological environment and grower’s needs;
  • Strong organization, planning and communication skills;
  • Ability to communicate ideas, concepts and results and to drive the decision making process;
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects and pipelines on going by region or country;
  • Ability to analyze, summarize and present the field trial data in a professional and objective manner (field testing methodology, statistical methods, and interpretation of trial results);
  • Good ability to transfer information from trial results into product concepts;
  • Ability to manage complex conflict resolution, internally and externally, with several different people cross-functions and cross-countries, while maintaining constructive relationships;
  • Ability to identify and bring forward leading edge technology;
  • Knowledge on how to optimize and integrate digital data solutions to drive business decisions;
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally 5-10%.
