Thales Group has footprint in China for more than 30 years. Today it has operations in different cities in China including Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Nanjing, and Hong Kong in the domains mainly of Aerospace, Civil Aviation, Transportation and Security.

The Thales Country China/HK team is in charge of running all commercial and industrial business for Thales Group in the territory, and from China in export through EPC. Over 1300 employees are working in the Country (Thales 100% owned units and JVs).

China is identified as high priority country for Thales growth worldwide, the Group is willing to invest in R&D in China and to set-up new product lines from China to serve the world market.

Thales has a significant market share and presence in China in Air Traffic Management, whether in terms of Navaids, radar or ATC systems.

Furthermore it has established in 1997 a JV which is mainly providing customer support services with respect to the Thales legacy Air Traffic Control systems in China. It has recently managed to position itself successfully as prime on tenders for low-end systems, as well as co-prime for larger scale systems.

Associated with the significant traffic density increase in China (+1 aircraft each day) and the development of new airports the Chinese market (+10 airport each year) is quite dynamic on all of the Air Traffic Management segments (Navaids, radar, tower and centers). As a consequence, Air Traffic Management is in front of a massive modernization and upgrade in China.

Position within organisation :
He/she will be part of the Country EXCOM, directly reporting to the CEO and functionally reporting to the Air Traffic Management Strategy Director.

Key figures:

Thales Air Traffic Management ambition and strategy are to:
- Propose and Implement for the country (Capture Team Leader) a massive plan aiming at modernizing Air Traffic Management national infrastructures and systems (automation, ATFM,…) to face world greatest Air Traffic Management’s capacity & density challenge generated in China by the expected growth of the traffic
- Increase Thales Air Traffic Management's local footprint, build over 5 years an Air Traffic Management Competence Center in China : transform the JV from a support entity into a true Air Traffic Management CC involved in products management, R&D / system engineering, complex projects management
- Keep / Grow its market share on ATCs, Radars and Navaids
- Position Thales in view of the coming competitions (by the end of the decade) regarding the renewal of the three major ATC centers currently running Thales systems (Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou)

Missions and responsibilities :
The position focuses on:
• Understanding and influencing the market, through the combination of an excellent knowledge in Air Traffic Management, as well as an expertise on local/regional specifics including market structure, customers / competitors and capture strategy development and customer influencing
• Orchestrate and materialize Thales strategy and ambition in China.

Specifically, the China Air Traffic Management Director will perform the following:
• Develop and maintain the Air Traffic Management strategy for Thales in China
• Build and run efficient capture strategies which delivers future profitable growth for Thales Air Traffic Management (including radar) and JV in China
• Manage the overall Air Traffic Management teams in China : sales/marketing team, Air Traffic Management support team in Thales China, and the JV
• Serve as an influential & effective liaison officer between local units/partners and foreign Thales entities;
• Will act as Key Account Executive for CAAC/ATMB
• Will monitor customer requirements, Thales projects/efforts and customer satisfaction in order to identify actions/efforts required to ensure success

• Very strong background and seniority in Air Traffic Management business & technologies
• Inspiring & influential Business Developer, in a context of sovereign national maters, building long-lasting trust for establishing deep cooperation
• P&L management, team management
• Language: Chinese, English (essential) and French(desirable)
