The Air traffic management Researcher reports to regional manager of Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) China and is responsible for leading projects ATM related research activities. BR&T is currently supporting Airspace operational efficiency efforts aimed at improving safety, efficiency and capacity for China Air Traffic Management and Airline. This position will support the projects of BR&T-C in developing and executing research strategies, managing external research providers and conducting in-house research. Candidate should have broad knowledge of ATM in China and good network with key research providers. When needed, this position will also provide support to ATM related activities conducted by THE BOEING COMPANY. Occasional travel is required.

Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Work with Regional Manage of Boeing Research and Technology China on development of research strategy and corresponding research portfolio.
  • Identify unique research capabilities in China, and initiate new projects, through developing collaborative partnership with research providers, that aligns with BR&T-C research strategy.
  • Manage R&D projects to develop innovative and indigenous technologies that are mutually beneficial to THE BOEING COMPANY and China.
  • Review documents and provide advice to ensure projects are conducted consistently with statement of work.
  • Manage research providers and review project progress on regular basis to ensure projects meeting schedule and budget.
  • Work collaboratively with both internal and external partners and stakeholders.
  • Conduct in-house ATM research project.
  • Interface with internal stakeholders to ensure ATM support is integrated with other Boeing projects and requirements.
  • And other duties and responsibilities as required by management.

Typical Education/Experience Requirements:

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 5 or more years' experience, Master's degree with 3 or more years' experience or PhD degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in transportation, engineering, computer science or mathematics.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years proven experience in communication or avionics area and demonstrate the following abilities:

    • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge in data communication and networked systems, both wired and wireless.

    • Air traffic management related background

    • Be Familiar with ICAO/CAAC standards for air traffic management.

    • Capable of independently and proactively conducting research activities.

    • Project management skills

    • Flexibility to work on different technology areas and applications related to air traffic management

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

    • Proven ability to work in multidiscipline teaming environments.
