JOB SUMMARY

Leads a team of junior and senior sales professionals in North and South America to deliver sales targets for the Lithium business segments in alignment with Albemarle’s core values and sales processes. Develops and implements sales plans with clear account priority coordinating with product teams which includes channel/distribution strategy. In addition, this person will also have responsibility for our Commodity Co-Products business located in Chile.

FUNCTIONAL SCOPE

  • Leads and coaches a team of sales professionals to deliver sales targets for the country.
  • Delivers the sales volume and revenue forecasts along with the annual operating plan and is responsible for its accuracy.  This person will have volume, revenue and SGP responsibility.
  • Ensures that sales call/negotiation planning, execution, and SFDC reporting are executed for the region.
  • Ensures that business divisions strategies and key deliverables are integrated into key customer account plans and account strategies and align with our customer segmentation.
  • Establishes and manages strong relationships with customers and also works internally with various functions to deliver the best customer experience to our customers.    
  • Develops multi-level relationships (high, wide and deep) with our key accounts that are beyond procurement.
  • Ensures development of new business opportunities and ensures these opportunities become part of the opportunity pipeline in Salesforce.
  • Collaborates with the business on pricing strategies/ranges that maximizes business profitability and uses and coaches the team on value selling techniques and the Challenger Selling principles.
  • Proficient in negotiating contracts with strategic and key customers with Albemarle’s interest in mind.
  • Manages external contract reviews and facilitation, as well as renewal and enforcement of contracts including managing of past dues w/ accounts receivable and credit.
  • Develops relationships and new business opportunities with new and existing customers.
  • Ensures that market intelligence is captured and delivered to key stakeholders (Marketing, Business, R&T).
  • Understands the value chain and assess and communicates changes to the business and sales teams.
  • Takes a leadership role to solve both short-term and long-term issues that are related to customers or processes.
  • Ability to form strong relationships with supply chain, business, and other functions.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & CAPABILITIES

  • Seasoned sales leadership to manage sales team, key customers and sales accounts with value selling skills.
  • Basic knowledge of chemical industry and chemical applications; Lithium knowledge preferred.
  • Experience with implementing common contractual mechanism utilized in the chemical industry.
  • Strong negotiation skills and resiliency through tough situations.
  • Previous people management experience, leading a team and leadership skills.
  • Understanding of the Challenger Selling principles.
  • Analytical skills to evaluate value chain, risks, growth potential of accounts, etc.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BS degree in technical or business related discipline – prefer MBA, MS or PhD
  • MINIMUM EXPERIENCE IN YEARS:
    • Minimum 10 years of commercial experience
    • 5 years of Chemical Industry experience preferred
  • Previous people management skills
