Job Description

As our lead China analyst, you will be responsible for producing forward-looking analysis at the intersection between geopolitics, the global economy and supply chain dynamics. You will work collaboratively with regional, industry and functional counterparts to proactively identify strategic trends in the economic and political landscape of China that will have profound impact on our global clients and their senior leadership. You will also conduct in-depth research and analysis on key topics including, but not limited, to China’s economic transition (dual circulation strategy), demographic shifts, political environment, domestic politics, investment and infrastructure, as well as technology policy and strategy.

You will play a critical role in the development and delivery of bespoke client projects, including but not limited, to risk assessments, strategic planning, scenario-building and geopolitical and economic forecasting. You will have the opportunity to partner with colleagues across the firm to establish sophisticated cross-functional and cross-regional analysis.

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to structure and deliver clear, logical, creative, evidence-driven arguments and forecasts; strong analytical and quantitative skills to conduct research; and ability to synthesize academic, internal, and external inputs and datasets.
  • Excellent writing, research (quantitative and qualitative), communication, presentation-building (PowerPoint) and editorial capabilities. Strong command of the English language is a must.
  • Understanding of or experience with analysis of global supply chains is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to multitask and work on multiple, time-sensitive client projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven professional environment.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively across multiple internal teams and stakeholders; flexibility and ability to adapt quickly to changing requirements is critical.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring open-source information, conducting research and analysis on information from these sources as well as from internal content/data sets.
  • Creating analytic products including, but not limited to, short term and long-term forecasts, trend analysis, and scenario planning.
  • Developing analytic content for our client base, including, but not limited to, short articles for the website, white papers, podcasts, webinars, and slide decks.
  • Participating in client calls and presentations.
  • Collaborating closely with our macroeconomic team and industry experts to develop key calls on the future of trade and investment policy, global and regional relations, domestic economic activity, and business environment.

Other:

  • Master’s Degree with demonstrated academic achievement in political science, China/Asian studies, international relations, business, or equivalent fields of study.
  • Proficiency in reading Mandarin required, fluency preferred.
  • 2+ years relevant professional previous experience with focus on China is required.
  • Experience utilizing Chinese and English language economic and demographic databases and data analytic tools is preferred.
