Objective of the Position: The purpose of this position is to support the import/export compliance and operational activities as well as all efforts in Germany Manufacturing site to ensure adherence with laws, improve operational efficiency and facilitate reduction of tariff and non-tariff barriers. The primary focus will be on the Ludwigshafen Site; however, this position also supports other EU Manufacturing sites with tactical activities and projects. Key responsibilities include supporting all operational imports/exports, secondary liaison with German Customs Authorities and other relevant Government Agencies on operational level, provide guidance to local AbbVie business personnel, support the development & deployment of trade compliance procedures/policies, support audit defense related to AbbVie’s international trade activity. Responsibilities Work directly with the Ludwigshafen functional departments to ensure that all import/export transactions are in compliance with European and German Customs Law through deployment/integration of internal controls Interface with AbbVie affiliates and suppliers to ensure their understanding Trade Compliance documentation requirements for Germany. Support activities related to customs request for information and post entry review of documentation. Assist in the management of trade data (i.e. tariff code, country of origin) and support monitoring of the system in which they are maintained Resolve day-to-day operational issues that result in border delays. Provide guidance, as needed, on documentation, tariff classification, customs valuation, and country of origin determination. Support import/export/duty management projects that focus on driving efficiencies or cost savings for the company Assist in training and knowledge sharing to improve business knowledge and operational performance to ensure compliance with German regulatory requirements. Assist in the capturing and analyzing of metrics associated with trade operations for reporting up to the site and the Global Trade Compliance leadership. Assist in the execution of the self-audit program to ensure continued compliance with customs law and internal policies on both imports and exports. Maintain and control records of all imports and exports including the records that have been processed under Economic Customs Procedures (IPR, PCC and OPR). Provide operational support (as needed) to other AbbVie EU manufacturing sites. Qualifications Bachelor degree in a related field (e.g. international trade, supply chain, logistics) 2-5 years of experience working in trade compliance, broker’s agency or multinational company, or consulting firm Computer Skills. Must have excellent ability managing Microsoft Access, Excel, PowerPoint & SAP.
